Muchas, muchas felizidades! I know how great this feels, You are free at last, free at last. No more trips to Immigration for the rest of your life, whew. You now have the legal right to voice any opinion you might have, this was huge for me! What a relief. I was ecstatic when I got mine, via Pineda tambien. Yes, for sure you have every right to celebrate!

But isn't celebrating with Brazilian c-cktails inappropriate for Mexican citizenship?

EdZeranski - 7-7-2011 at 07:30 AM

Blanca, now that we have celebrated with you, you are obligated to have Les post a video of you singing the Mexican National Anthem.

We're waiting.

tiotomasbcs - 7-7-2011 at 09:32 AM

Mexicanos al Grito de Guerra...Felicidades. Gilberto makes things easy. I believe you need 10yrs of residency here these days; test was not difficult! My Bilingual Teaching Certificates took me a couple tries over 2yrs!! Made a whopping $1000 extra each year?:O Ni modo. Congratulations. Tio:cool:

FYI...you arent obligated to give up your original citizenship....unless you want to. When you are in Mexico you are Mexican and cant go running to the american consulate if something happens...when in the states you are american again!

Iflyfish - 7-7-2011 at 10:51 AM

Well done Blanca, well done!!

Didnt know that! Txs for that info shari. So that's is called a duel citizenship. yes?

BajaBlanca - 7-7-2011 at 11:52 AM

hi all !!! Les drank the Pacifico in honor of Mexico, I drank the cachaca, pronounced cachassa (Brazilian) because it was my Brazilian citizenship that granted me the opportunity to jump start the Mexican citizenship process a full 3 years before Les .... so I had to toast the LATINA in me ....

So now I am an american born, brazilian descendant turned mexicana. not even dual citizen but triple !! I actually have 4 citizenships, in another lifetime I was married to a Frenchman. daaaaaaaaaaaaaaang. But I am very , very, VERY happy to become Mexican - there are so many community projects where it will come in so handy for me to be a paisana.

Now, next step is to learn some REAL cusswords in espanol !!!
