Left on 6/27 at 0600, got there by 1000. Two guys leaving. No one there until the next day and they didn't surf much. The fishermen were all friendly. Victor said to watch your stuff. No problems and great surf.

The best thing is, we've been looking for a dog. I pulled over after the dirt to air up and saw this pup being kicked away by a girl. I thought, wow, I better check this out. After three semi trucks drove by, I looked up and she was crossing the hi way to see what I was doing. I grabbed her off the middle line and knew I had to save her. The vet thinks she is just 5-7 weeks old. We went to secondary at Tecate and they never looked in the cab. We had her in a crate on the back seat. We were going to get a dog from the Baja rescue. I guess we have our own rescue. I'm sure she would have been run over that day. My wife and two boys are all smiles.

love the puppy and kid......

NIce rig, Nice waves!

I was there last Oct, but no surf

I noticed you can see that huge white complex in the background of a few of the shots.

brewer - 7-6-2011 at 08:44 PM

Shady story about that complex. An observatory on the coast? A security gate with video? The place is huge. I can't imagine what it was like hauling all that material in.

standingwave - 7-6-2011 at 08:49 PM

I'm with you on that one, Woody. An archetypal image for sure.

That last shot is a winner! Good times.

Surprisingly uncrowded, looked fun. Nice pooch.

bigzaggin - 7-7-2011 at 10:15 AM

Haven't been there in ages. Happy to see it uncrowded and hope Victor is still kickin'.

Does that little ladder mean you no longer have to walk all the way around through the fish camp to get down to the beach? And also, did you guys drive the road in/out to the N and, if so, how was it?

shari - 7-7-2011 at 10:33 AM

looks like a stellar trip...some nice waves bro...was looking for more kiddie photos though!

Mexitron - 7-7-2011 at 10:51 AM

Victor is still kickin'. Real nice guy.

The ladder was at far south end of the camping bluff. I think it's more of a walk and paddle out. We took a walk up that new road they're punching through. It just kept going. The road was newly graded and in great shape. I think it will eventually hook up to the La Bocana/Punta China road. Victor said it didn't go through yet.

When You Rescue a Baja Dog

You are blessed.

Cheers, GJ

Nice pictures! Looks fun and I agree with you the best part is the pup. Between the hungry pup picture and the ones taken at home, she really looks much better. Some good food and a little love go a long way.

That road did go through for years - very tricky locating from the Bocana side and some A+ hellish sections, but a pretty drive and a nice farm midway where I had Tecates with some farmers once. It washed out a few years ago. Unless they make a major major upgrade, it will always be faster to go the other route.

I was camped there once ages ago when we ran out of real food and drove back to Victor's to see what he would sell us. We bought a dozen fresh eggs from the guy. No idea why, but like, 50% of them were blood eggs. Thankfully, we were not out of Cholula.

That photo of your son and puppy is absolutely priceless :yes:

Puppy's name should be Lucky ---- she is very lucky to have found you!

Oh, your other photos are very nice and it looks like you had a great trip---but son and puppy steal the show.:yes:

Hope to see updates on puppy growing fat and sassy and your son looks like he will be on a surfboard real soon!

BajaGeoff - 7-20-2011 at 01:36 PM

I haven't been there since the mid '90's, which is silly since it is such an easy trip. Great surf shots and kudos for rescuing the pooch!

Ateo - 7-21-2011 at 08:07 AM

4 hours to get there. That's what always makes that spot great.

khargis - 7-24-2011 at 07:22 PM
