(1) only way to gain full rights of a citizen in Mexico, vote in mexico, etc..
(2) only way to compete on Mexican Olympic team, on Mexico's team in World Cup, etc.

Go Bajablanca!

WHY CITIZENSHIP .....

BajaBlanca - 7-9-2011 at 11:51 AM

goat = that is hysterical !!! olympic team here I come !!

Mike - there are quite a few reasons for ME persoanlly:

1. property in my name
2. never visit the immig office again for FM of any kind
3. since we run a business, never have immig visit US by surprise
4. no fideicomiso
5. be able to cuss when I am peeed off and not be deported
(just kidding, I don't cuss, even in English, but I sure get peeed off and want to speak my mind and now I can !!)
6. I have so many projects and there is gvt money available - now I can have access to funds so maybe I can get a recyycling center going and most importantly for me - I really, really want proper landfills for every single village. la bocana. asuncion. punta abreojos. mulege. san ignacio.

There are more reasons but I think you get the picture !!

It's no more than a personal goal. All other reasons are subjective.

If you are going to be living here as solely a retired expat, the main benefits of citizenship are not having to deal with immigration each year and no fideicomiso.

If you are involved in a business, the benefits are endless.

P.S. I hear they give you a better deal on Pacificos at Sharkeys too...

Felicidades!

Tu eres Choyera!

Eli - 7-9-2011 at 12:53 PM

I realize that every-one's karma is different. My experiences with Immigration were many years ago and super traumatic. At one point I was told that as an Administrator for my company, I was not even allowed to bake cookies for my workers, or wash my own windows or answer my own telephone, can you imagine. Fighting El Syndicato and not being a citizen was a challenge to say the least, thank god for my workers and me, we won. As My dear ol Dad use to always say "In Mexico, everything is Illegal, it it a matter of whether they want to enforce the laws or not."
So, as Dennis sez, it is subjective, and those are some the things I was subjected to which formed my reasons for wanting citizenship.

If only a little bit true, I would dress like Benito Juarez and sing the endless anthem with every refill.

Congrats, BajaBlanca

It's a long. hard journey to become a citizen in a new country, especially one ruled by Napoleonic law and then modified into the Mexican definition.

Your to-do list of accomplishments is breathtaking.

More power to you!

Cheers, and I wish I could stop by for your celebration, GJ

bajajurel - 7-9-2011 at 09:00 PM

we'll toast a glass to you Blanca.

bajajurel - 7-9-2011 at 09:03 PM

Great goals - especially the landfill. We should start a petition to Solar / Cat to donate a track loader and compactor.
