How does one lose a great dane?
:?:

Yeah, Well, Dogs in Strange Environments Easily Get Spooked and Run Away

Gypsy Jan - 7-12-2011 at 09:04 AM

It's Mexicali Days here on the coast and a lot of people come to the beach to escape the heat of the inland and they take the entire family along.

I'm just saying.

The dog responds to commands in Spanish.

I just want to know how it knew to find YOU. I mean how cosmetically correct can one get. That Dog knew right where to go in order to find a safe haven that's for sure.

Seems they have a nose for Jan.... good luck with another "big one"... :):)

Bonding Over iPhone Pictures of Dogs

Gypsy Jan - 7-12-2011 at 10:52 AM

A Mexican friend who has a beautiful German Shepherd proudly shared his pictures of his dog with us and admired our pictures of our German Shepherd and our Great Danes.

He saw the dog wandering around the campo, told us about it on Saturday; we said if you see it again, bring it to us.

When he first saw it, it was wearing a leather collar/jacket. When he saw it again, the collar and jacket was gone.

He called his buddy, a taxista to come help. They opened the back doors of the taxi and the dog jumped in. The German Shepherd came along for the ride inside his owner's car.

They both drove their cars to our home and refused our offer of payment for the ride.

Five stars for you!

Whoever Owned This Dog

Gypsy Jan - 7-12-2011 at 01:05 PM

Was neglectful, abusive or whatever you want to call it.

The ears are cut, but one flops down.

The dog is so skinny the the vertebrae of the back and the ribs are showing. The dog has raised areas of scabbing. We washed the dog with flea soap and gave it worming pills.

The dog is sweet, friendly and shows no aggression at all. The dog likes and trusts people and is friendly and not afraid of strange encounters.

FAIR WARNING this is a RANT.

People who abuse children and helpless animals that have no voice are consigned by myself to Dante's lowest orders of Hell.

That's my position and I will stand on this ground as long as I am able.

wessongroup - 7-12-2011 at 04:14 PM

Spot on Jan... only hope the ending is better for this big guy or girl is better than that other poor animal that someone tossed out of a van a year or so back... still brings tears to my eyes...

Your too good... to have a bad rant... :):)

Wasn't a Great Dane thrown from a car accident last year and went running off. Post a pic.

Miracles do happen.

Santiago - 7-12-2011 at 07:04 PM

We all lost a great Dane a few years ago.

krafty - 7-12-2011 at 07:14 PM

Bajario that would be cool if they were one and the same.:tumble:

Gypsy Jan - 7-12-2011 at 07:37 PM

He is sleeping on the floor of my kitchen. I had to unwrap his big paws from my waist to stand up,

Going back to hug him again,

Good night, Nomads.

Yes, Pickles. Who knows. One car ride a later could be the reason nobody found a trace of the dog in that area. Worth a shot.

The lady who runs Costa Del Sol in BOLA has a Great Dane named Scooby.

Fairbanks47 - 7-13-2011 at 03:20 PM

After discussing information with Gypsy Jan, it is confirmed that the lost Great Dane, which it seems has found his new home, is not Pickle who was lost in January of 2010. Thanks to everyone who had the thought that a miracle may have happened!

UPDATE - NOT Pickle

Gypsy Jan - 7-13-2011 at 04:47 PM

The father of the family that lost Pickle in a car accident contacted me.

Sadly, this is not their beloved dog.

Our new dog is a young male, very affectionate and needy.

He is not leash trained, but willing to learn. He has not made any messes inside, he waits for someone to take him out.

Husband said, "Don't let him up on the furniture!"

Husband is taking a nap and new dog climbs up on the couch to lie alongside me and he outweighs me by at least fifty pounds.

I surrender to the cuddle.

wessongroup - 7-13-2011 at 05:04 PM

A nice picture... :):)

Roberto - 7-13-2011 at 05:41 PM

Jan, what's your plan for this dog? Keep him? Try and find a home for him? I have two, but I love Great Danes. Please contact me privately in the latter case.

Hi Roberto

Gypsy Jan - 7-13-2011 at 05:55 PM

It depends on the husband barometer.

Trust me, we have never thrown a dog away anywhere near or under the bus.

I will definitely contact you with updates.

Bummer. If it's not Pickles at least this dog is resting comfortably.

I'm flying into Loreto manana. With the picture of pickles now I will look at all dogs with scrutiny. He could still be out there in any part of Baja. I'm holding out hope.
