Sell pickup to Mexican nat.?

fudscrud - 7-17-2011 at 11:19 AM

I have an old pickup truck (94 chevy 1500) that I have not registered or driven for 4 years. I was thinking about putting on Tijuana and Mex City craigslist to sell. This would save me the hassle of getting a temp permit, smog (if it will still pass) and registration. Obviously I've never done this before so any input on how to go about this?
Thanks

even though this is done all the time

it is illegal for an american to sell a vehicle in mexico

the deal has to be done in the states

That's what I mean, I should have been clearer.
They can buy it here and take it back with them.

It will cost around 500 bucks for the buyer to import it into Mexico. This should be taken into account when setting your price.

Sounds like a good Baja Beater. Why don't you register it in South Dakota for less than 50 dollars...no insurance and no smog required.

If you want more info on that idea, it's been discussed here...a lot, so you should be able to search it out.

Where is it and how much do you want for it?

It's in the Lakeside/Poway area. If I don't have to go through the whole smog/reg process I would take $1,500 for it, to buy some insulation for the ID cabin.
