He was washed outside with with flea soap and then we picked several ticks off.
On Friday he was neutered and a tumor (benign) was removed..
He weighs about 164 lbs., but he is underweight, the ribs and vertebrae are sticking out.
In the course of two days he learned to use the dog doors, and hasn't messed the house.
Also, he has learned how to sit, but he is not yet so good on the leash ( he outweighs me by maybe forty-five pounds), so we kind of wander around
while I am teaching him how to respond.

There's an ad for a missing black Dane here in Comitan but I think you're too far away to be finding him.DianaT - 7-18-2011 at 07:59 AM
Sounds like you are doing a great job, as usual.
Have you ever used a gentle leader to help leash train----especially since he could drag you down the street at will. :-)

GEEZE!!!! You got a BIG boy there :-)
I'd be happy to help pay for the care given. LMK and I can shoot out a check to you.
The day I get sick...I'll be at your door with the rest of the dogs!
Gitano NOT on the Couch
Gypsy Jan - 7-18-2011 at 11:44 AM
This big idiot is discouraged from climbing on the furniture, so he put his head on the couch, leaving 95% of the dog on the floor and then fell
asleep, a deep deep dog sleep, with snoring.

Look's like Dad has given in on the "couch" thing.... Roberto - 7-18-2011 at 12:21 PM
How old do you think Gypsy (the dog) is?
Answer to Questions
Gypsy Jan - 7-18-2011 at 12:30 PM
Diana T, we use Gentle Leaders on all our dogs. The new boy wears his 24/7.
Roberto, I opened his mouth, checked his teeth out and ran my hand all over the inside. He has no signs of wear or tartar. Based on that and the
fact that he still acts a bit like a puppy, I think that he is around two years old.
I clipped his dew claws and I give him his meds by sticking my fingers down his throat. He allows all of this personal invasion with no problems.

From you. I wonder if that would be the case with others. I am going to call you the Baja Dog Whisperer from now on.
The puppy sounds like a sweetheart.

Yep, leash is a sticking point, does take some learning but the dog we 'acquired' in Guerrero Negro in June is a tad smaller just a long haired
dachshund/street dog.
