It is possible to rent a car in the US (san diego) and enter mexico, drive around for 10 days or so and then drop off in mexico (san jose del cabo)
and then we would fly back home.
Or would need to maybe rent in TJ.Woooosh - 7-19-2011 at 06:23 PM
I'll say No. You can take an Enterprise Rental Car as far south as Ensenada. I don't know of any companies that let you drive down the length of the
peninsula, or drop it there. Can you imagine the drop fee? Hope I'm wrong because that would be fun.Bajahowodd - 7-19-2011 at 06:37 PM
I'm gonna agree with Whoooosh on this. You can rent a car to enter Mexico. But to drop it off in Cabo??? Either highly unlikely or highly expensive.woody with a view - 7-19-2011 at 06:41 PM
look up CABAJA.COM
thank me later, and if you see a guy named Rich hitchhiking toss an empty bottle at his head when you pass him at 50mph.
seriously, thank me later.thebajarunner - 7-19-2011 at 07:09 PM
Good call Woodie
I have rented from them several times, always a good experience.
Not real cheap, but then again it is the only game I know of.
My beef with them used to be that you had to haul butt all the way out to Spring Valley to get the vehicle.
They told me that they would begin some SAN pickups, but not sure that has happened. Be sure to ask, it is a hassle to get all the way out there,
even if you have a second vehicle to expedite the mission.
Good people, good cars/vans, good tip.bajafreaks - 7-19-2011 at 07:27 PM

Another option might be to rent the car in TJ.
Rates are cheaper for inter-Mex travel and drop-offs.bajafreaks - 7-20-2011 at 01:39 PM
Well here's the info on Cabaja, the daily rental for a compact car with insurance etc. is about $70.00 a day which is okay but the drop off fee to
leave the car in Cabo (not the airport) is $1600.00 yes $1600.00 well I guess we will be going with plan B...just need to fiqure out what is plan B
???
Probabaly rent out of TJ airport.Diver - 7-20-2011 at 04:03 PM
Cabaja also charges for mileage over 150 per day.
This could be VERY expensive for a trip to Cabo.
Make sure you rent with "unlimited" mileage.Bajahowodd - 7-20-2011 at 04:12 PM
Seems to me that anyone that would not blink at those kind of charges doesn't need to be driving themselves anyway!
