Not too long ago, what 12 yrs or so? The old ice slide from the hill below the shrine has already been removed. But still guess that's a while.

Boy ol boy...you hit the nail on the head.
The Palapas .....I will let Mr San Felipe (Lou) answer that!
I assume that they just withered away...much like many of them that are built ....and not maintained.
