La Paz Nomad Meet n' Greet

MitchMan - 7-28-2011 at 01:59 PM

Hey La Paz area Nomads!

If you are a Nomad and are within a 50 mile radius of La Paz, you're invited. We are having a very informal get together at a local pub in La Paz on Sunday August 7, 2011 in the afternoon time as a form of casual meet n' greet. I am buying everyone's first cervesa.

Let me know if you are interested (U2U me) and if that day and approximate time works for you. If a different time and day between Aug 1 and Aug 11 works better for you, also let me know of that. So far, about 6 Nomads have signed up, I expect more soon. When the exact date, time and place is set I will u2u you on or before Friday, Aug 5th.

It's gonna be great to meet you all and put a face to the names, and if you like to fish, so much the better.

When you get together please try to pick another date at the end of Oct through November so I can participate, or, Jan- May.

That is a VERY fun thing to do. We did it in San Felipe and it was fun to put the name to the face. We had a great time at the Mcfez house.

The best Nomad meeting I ever attended was in San Diego when Mike Younghusband did his walking Baja travel presentation. There were more Nomads there at one event than I have ever witnessed.

Any Nomad meetup is a great thing!

Been slacking on answering u2u's Mitch. Let me know when and where, I'll be there!

MitchMan - 7-29-2011 at 10:18 AM

OK, bajabass, you're on the list. I will u2u you by the end of next week with the specifics.

In the mean time, let's hope the fishing improves, 'cause, I'm going fishing next week!

bajabass - 7-29-2011 at 12:58 PM

What day are you heading out Mitch? I'm trying to pick a day based on wind and swell right now.

MitchMan - 7-29-2011 at 08:42 PM

bajabass,
Not sure yet, will be in La Paz Sunday afternoon, July 31st. I will be looking at the weather really closely, plan on asking around to get a feel for what the fishing and, like you say, what the wind and swell is most likely to be. Will most likely fish out of Los Muertos or El Faro as early in the 1st week of August as possible. Really want to get some Dorado, Tuna would be a real plus. I should have gotten more fish by this point in the summer than I have gotten. I'm gettin' antsy. I'll keep you posted on my info gathering progress.

Hey bajabass,
Weather in La Paz looks and feels great for fishing. What say you? I will send you a u2u in a few minutes. Let's talk fish.

Going into town this morning to scout cantinas on the malecon for the Meet n' Greet. Candidates are: The Bismark, Tailhunter, Rancho Veijo 2, La Perla, even Palermo's. I'm open to suggestions. Talk to me, Nomads.

In the mean time between now and the Meet n' Greet, I am gonna go fishing.

Hang on you Dorados and tunas, I'm coming to get you!

My vote is for Tequilas

Jesse,
Just had a family reunion at my cousin's mansion in Upland, CA Saturday night. Drank Cadillac Margarita's all night long. First time I ever saw a bartender put a dash of Pure Agave syrup in the margarita. And, they didn't spare the Grand Marnier, either. I am stil trying to work off the hang over. The thought of 'tequilas' at this moment scares me; makes me shiver.

But, I am sure that I will feel differently on Sunday night. Still trying to find a venue on the malecon that has air conditioning for you, Jesse. To me, as a spoiled American, air conditioning means cool air. Not that inadequate crap that isn't much better than a swamp cooler. I am coming up short, so far.

I agree with Jesse. Tequila's is my favorite neighborhood pub but since I can't make this round I don't have a vote.

We don't need air conditioning, we need beers and tequila.

Holy Moly, Kate, you are 'really' acclimated to this weather here in Baja!

It takes me about 3 days here to get used to 85 degrees F in the house, before the 3 days are up, I've got the A/C turned up.

Alan, I am a little confused. When Jesse suggested "Tequila's", I presumed he was talking about a drink and not a place. Won't be the last time I am confused, still working off a hangover from Saturday night.

Kate, don't know about Tailhunter's as the seating is sparce on the outside and they said that they are having entertainment that night, that may interfere with conversation. But, if we don't have it at Tailhunter's, I can give you a ride in my truck if you need a ride to and from the event.

I will be u2u'ing you all soon with the specifics.
