BajaNomad

Nice to be back on the Nomad forum...

RandyMacSC/SO - 9-10-2004 at 07:01 PM

It's been some time and I've missed the BajaNomad forum and the many wonderful people on this Baja Message forum.

My brother kept me informed while I was recovering from the prolonged bout with the nasty wouldn't go away pnuemonia.

I very much appreciate the kind thoughts and words in my absence.

My Doc says a trip to the Baja California is the best medicine to clear my lungs completely out, so I'm headed for the Baja in mid December until April. I look forward to meeting in person the many people that I have grown to know in words on this forum.

I'm can't wait to do some visiting, snorkeling, clam digging, and hiking in the Sierras, and to visit all the places I've dreamed of while I was out of it. Okay, and a few cold ones are on the agenda too.

Did a little Nomad Toon and posted it earlier. Jr's ant episode made me laugh so I thought I'd do an ant toon. The pixels are a little rough but I'll smooth out my pixel drawing skills soon enough. So many ideas for new toons, so little time.

Time to go for a late dinner. Take care.

But wheres the toon posted ?

RandyMacSC/SO - 9-11-2004 at 09:12 AM

Appreciate the warm welcome back from you all.

I still have a nasty cough that nags me early in the morning, but I'm feeling so much better. Can't believe how bad it could get, and I'm only 46 and not even a smoker. But having pnuemonia a few times before (okay, too many times since I was a kid) from being careless in the sometimes miserable Canadian weather conditions and swimming in the cold cold waters of the Columbia river in early May made it so much easier to get it again and have to suffer another nasty bout. No more though. I don't want to get this again when I'm 65 or they'll probably be planting me backside sticking up and growing flowers between the cracks.

Something tells me I should move to the Baja for the better weather. Sounds like a grand plan.

Sure makes me appreciate things a whole lot more.

I look forward to going for a nice Baja back country ride in your Baja Search and Rescue Van of yours Jr.

Heading off to help my cousin renovate a room in his house. Take care and have a good weekend.

Oh yes. I have a few dozen ideas already for toons and they'll be coming over the next few weeks and months. I like to read the many stories as they give me good ideas for putting pixels to screen.

I can kill the body slowly, but not my sense of humour. That's permanent.

Where's the toon posted?

It's in the following Forum:

Special Correspondents
Nomad `Toons (Moderated by: RandyMac)
Is nothing sacred around here?

Thanks to Doug as he made a special Baja Nomad Toons section available for me to post Toons. He put it up just as I got sick in the early summer and I felt so bad not being able to contribute for the past few months. But I'll make up for that.

My goal is to make the toons relate to Baja Nomad stories. And of course to add some smiles, grins and humour to your day and evenings.

Can you repost the picture you did of me

academicanarchist - 9-11-2004 at 09:24 AM

RandyMac. I am sure that your pictures will delight and entertain the people on the forum. Could you repost the picture you did of me? Thanks. I think we are all very happy to see that you have recovered, and are back.

AA. I will repost as soon as I get my iMac hooked up. I'm using my cousins wife's PC right now and the GRaphic editing tools are real lame. I am up in northern Canada at this moment (Edmonton) and all my previous Toons are stored on my portable iMac (iBook). Will try on Sunday or later this week. I also want very much to finish the Toon Logo for JRBaja. He's been so so patient, and I feel so so bad I haven't been able to deliver on my promise to complete the Toon Logo for Baja Search and Rescue van. So it's at the top of my list of things to complete before heading south to the Baja in December.

Look for your character toon on the Special Toon section earlier in the next week AA. Okay.

RandyMac

Thanks

I hear it gets pretty cold in the winters in Alberta. Glad I am not there.

When I get you into those hills, you will be eating and drinking stuff that will rejuvenate those aching lungs of yours.

To say nothing of some pretty "special" places where just breathing the air will change your entire system for the better !!!:light:

Pack well my friend, you may just like what you will be seeing and doing.

sounds great to me jrbaja

RandyMacSC/SO - 9-11-2004 at 11:21 AM

jr,

the Baja is probably the best place to rejuvenate aching lungs. Never been a smoker (okay the odd puff of the wacky stuff) but I never thought I'd trash my lungs so bad.

I will pack for those pretty "special" places where just breathing the air is like being in heaven.

I'm woking on the Baja Search and Rescue LOGO at this very time. I have thought so much about being so dilenquent on getting the cartoon logo done and sent out to you. I'll be bringing it with me for sure.

It's looking better each hour.

Look forward to meeting you JrBaja and breathing that fresh rejuvenating Baja air.

I woke up at 1:00 in the morning in my motorhome (named the Baja Chihuahua) and low and behold, 2 inches of snow.

So so cold. But it's gone for now.

I was able to get up and around and I started making myself a huge supply of garlic laced chile con carne. So much garlic people wouldn't come near me for a while, but I am a firm believer in the healing powers of garlic and chile, and hot foods.

My arse will be in the Baja in December and parked for at least 4 or 5 months of beautiful Baja sunshine.

RandyMac

off for some garlic chile.
