Coming back this past weekend from Punta Banda, decided to take Mex 3. Very pleasant drive. 4 lanes all across the Valle de Guadalupe. Only about 1000
feet of gravel left a little south of Tecate.
The military check point has been moved about 10 miles north of where it used to be. Pleasant soldiers!
AHH, the crossing?
Was four cars back at 10:30 a.m. 3 minutes!:bounceDavid K - 7-31-2011 at 12:00 PM

Hey, I just said COOL UDO! LOL
Yes, a terrible road and bad border... what, with only two lanes!BajaNomad - 8-2-2011 at 11:19 PM
Have another report sent to me privately stating this about Hwy 3 currently:
"Construction going on extensively, ad hoc detours every where"

Maybe they stayed too long in Guadalupe? Then again maybe Udo did!!Bajabuff - 8-3-2011 at 05:13 PM
The Mexican road crews apparently change weekend's 1000ft of unpaved gravel paving into 10,000s of ft/??miles unpaved overnight, so Monday August 1 it
was an entirely different road. Yes, it is absolute magic, un milagro. The crossing part is true.Udo - 8-3-2011 at 05:28 PM
No! it was my mistake...It took me three hours to
cross the border, plus was sent into secondary!
Mistake??

Whatever the truth is, it has been clear to me that as the fourlane is completed and more folks become familiar with it, the Tecate crossing will be a
nightmare. They just don't have enough lanes.DENNIS - 8-4-2011 at 04:19 PM

My info says the construction is mainly in the town, Testerazo, and use caution when the asphalt changes from old to new as it's quite a jolt at
speed. You can see the difference, old to new by the shade of gray....light to dark. You know what I mean.DENNIS - 8-4-2011 at 04:22 PM

I don't think it will ever change much. Most travelers are just too timid and/or hate the winding 94 on the other side.
