some friends of ours want to camp in a few days in San Juanico and would like to know if it has been windy there...anybody know??
Here it is usually windy around the full moon and maybe that's the case there too??gnukid - 8-11-2011 at 11:41 PM
No one in san juanico is sober or reliable enough to know if its windy after 10am.woody with a view - 8-12-2011 at 06:27 AM
when the onshore westerly wind comes up in the afternoon is when the wind blows along the west coast, everywhere. i've never noticed a difference
around the full moon. interesting.....BigWooo - 8-12-2011 at 06:37 AM
Wind blew 21mph yesterday. Looks like we're in a windy weather pattern for a while. But... then again...it might be raining. You just never know if
I'm sober OR reliable....shari - 8-12-2011 at 06:49 AM

In BCS on the SOC we have noticed a full moon strong wind correlation during the Winter. If you do want wind for sailing full moon tends to be very
reliable indicator among others. The assumptions are that a full moon relates to stronger tides, more water movement and more dynamics relate to a
greater chance for pressure gradients that cause wind.
Interesting that weathermen/woman don't often mention the influence of the moon on weather though it seems to be a reliable indicator as opposed to,
say, Al Gore.woody with a view - 8-12-2011 at 08:05 AM
i get the full moon influence on the tidal forces.... i guess the local variables differ widely from place to place.Terry28 - 8-12-2011 at 10:17 PM
Wind is created by uneven heating of the earths surface, and the difference in pressure gradients, high and low pressure.....I don't see how the
phase of the moon comes into play..........anybody?? Bueller??woody with a view - 8-12-2011 at 11:29 PM

Seems that all you have to do is stagger to the weather station and check the rock..........
