We Met a New Dog Today

A very, very large, young Harlequin Great Dane.

Nice dog, good temperament.

Are you thinking of another adoption?

Bless us all, human feline canine
Each nature distinct,
yet a deep genetic remembering calls us back, back, back in time
to our more primitive consciousness
when we agreed to share home and hearth, food, affection
and yes, protection.
This call, imperfect compromise as it was crafted eons ago,
echoes within our beings even today.
Bless all three of us, human feline canine
Perfect in our own species' uniqueness.

No, No, No - Not Another Adoption!

But I am subject to terrible crushes.

Brad Pitt could walk by and I would still be staring at the dog.

He has a loving family and at eighteen months of age, he is very, very tall - closing in on weighing upwards of two hundred pounds.

His name is Spartacus.

P.S. In a funny, non-serious, self-deprecating way, the Mom of Spartacus told me that if she and the dog were kidnapped and then rescued, her husband would be more excited about getting the dog back safely.

I completely understood what she was saying.

Here is a pic of the opposite end of the spectrum. These guys (well one guy and two girls) were born on Aug 1st. All are spoken for. (Lucky since my wife fell in love with all 3 the instant she saw them.)
