Anybody Asked For "Papers" at La Paz Airport?

Yes, everytime... Passport and IMN papers. Even on a domestic flight originating out of TIJ.

Long story, but I flew into La Paz on a domestic Volaris flight out of TJ a little over a year ago. Forgot to get my FMM as I was used to flying out of LA and you get it on the plane. BIG HASSLE!!! All my fault, but I'll never repeat that mistake!!!

And they will confiscate your visa on the return flight. I flew from Loreto to LA via Hermosillo. At hermosillo they kept my visa even though I had another 160 days left on it.

I argued this point at SJD airport. They finally agreed to keep a copy of my paperwork, returning the original to me as it still had several months remaining.
It appeared to be a confusing issue for them.
