Hurricane brewing (Not)

Russ - 8-31-2011 at 06:53 AM

Something to keep a watch on. I sure hope it fizzles out. I don't like the projected paths on this one! I have my shutters ready :o

10 projected paths:?::?::?::?:

They can hardly go wrong with this prediction...unlike the one for hurricane Irene for the New York area. What a fiasco there!:O

Looks like trouble! I heard recently that air temps in Los Barriles were 110!! Todos Santos was cloudy w/ a few rainstorms--very muggy! Silver/gray clouds from the mtns down to the coast. Hwy 1 north going into La Paz showed signs of some good rain and roadside erosion. Feels like September! Tio

Isn't 80° and above when they start to worry?

Bill Collector - 8-31-2011 at 08:48 AM

We are worried.

classicbajabronco - 8-31-2011 at 09:49 AM

Ambient air temp of 117 in San Jose yesterday according to wunderground.

...and I am also worried. I think we are going to get hit on Saturday. Not sure if it'll be a tropical depression or a hurricane. trying to decide if I should start installing the hurricane protection. Will make the call this evening.

I'm not liking what I see on the satellite loop from NOAA http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/west/epac/flash-rb.html Appears that all the weather systems that could influence this storm to move west have moved and there is nothing to keep it away right now. When it is named I'll change the header name too.

Russ,

Where did the above image of teh projected paths come from? It looks like storm pulse, but I am not getting anything except yesterdays info. I am watching www.eebmike.com

Thanks

Caps aren't mine.

"THE OFFICIAL NHC FORECAST CALLS FOR THE DEPRESSION TO BECOME A REMNANT LOW IN 36 HOURS...ALTHOUGH THIS
COULD OCCUR EVEN SOONER."

Edited to say that I don't know why the full link won't paste.

THE DEPRESSION APPEARS TO HAVE MOVED INLAND AROUND 1600 UTC ABOUT 30
NMI WEST OF LAZARO Card##AS MEXICO. SINCE THAT TIME...THE LOW-LEVEL
CIRCULATION SEEMS TO HAVE BECOME ELONGATED...AND THERE IS SOME
CHANCE THAT THE LOW- TO MID-LEVEL CENTERS ARE BECOMING DETACHED. IN
ADDITION...CLOUD TOP TEMPERATURES HAVE BEEN WARMING AND THE OVERALL
CLOUD PATTERN OF THE DEPRESSION HAS BECOME LESS ORGANIZED.
WEAKENING APPEARS TO HAVE BEGUN NOW THAT MOST OF THE CIRCULATION IS
OVER THE RUGGED TERRAIN OF THE SIERRA MADRE DEL SUR...AND THE
INITIAL INTENSITY IS LOWERED TO 25 KT. THE DEPRESSION WILL BE
FURTHER DISRUPTED AS IT MOVES FARTHER INLAND...AND DISSIPATION IS
EXPECTED WITHIN 12 HOURS.

Ojala it goes as is predicted by the wayside. The month of Sept. always leaves me sitting on pins and needles. I can't believe how many years my Palapa roof as lasted, fingers stay crossed until Mid Oct.
