I heard there was a marlin / dorado tournament in Loreto today! Catch and release the marlin. In my opinion that's all good as I don't think they are
that tasty as a food fish. But how are they going to weigh them on the boat? Are all the teams taking an official measure person out with them? I
think if the measuring is left up to the Loreto captains there will probably be a few world records released. Has anyone else heard of this
tournament? If so, what is your opinion?Bill Collector - 9-3-2011 at 02:50 PM
If it's a release tournament there is No weight. It's normally points given per marlin released. Blue Marlin normally are more points.bill erhardt - 9-3-2011 at 03:57 PM

Billfish in such a torneo are not weighed. Participants are given credit for catching and releasing. To avoid the necessity of a judge on each boat,
on each day of fishing participants are given a sign that must be included in a photo of qualifying fish. Attached is a photo of a pez vela caught in
another catch and release torneo a couple of years ago. The two fingers was the sign for that day. Ideally, the photo is taken and the fish is
released alongside the boat. I fish alone so brought the fish in the backdoor for a brief photo op. before sending him on his way.
