We are planning a trip to Gonzaga Bay in November. Two questions: has the road been improved from Puertocitos and how in the world do you contact
Alphonsina"s?
I have tried the fax number and mail address listed on the internet but to no avail. Any suggestions. Thanks

Has the road improved?
Some of the campo owners have pooled money together and are putting some more dirt in the worst tire shredding parts of the road. Thats about it.
The last time I saw the road graded was in Nov of last year. It has been getting progressivley worse after that. The big ore trucks are still
hauling out of the south so be carefull they also do a number on the areas of the road that once had concrete culverts going under them. Some of the
culverts are colapsing and when you go through a dip there is 1 to 3 holes in the road that can swallow a tire. There is a very bad one just as the
pavement ends and it turns into all dirt before puertecitos.
Ill check for a new number for Alfonsinas

Road was nice in June of this year.

Just air down, gird up your loins, and GET ER' DONE! The pothole section was slow with a lot of weaving (and no drinking) otherwise I thought it was
quite nice (after hearing all the horror stories). It was my one and only trip though so I have nothing to compare it to.

there are 2 pictures of the road in June 04 in this link
drop your air pressure and put a beer between your legs, keep an eye on the road and go forward and have a good time!!!!! you will be there in no time
and time goes by very fast in the baja.
Thanks Corky

I couldn't find my Alfonsina's card with the two numbers on it. I was going to suggest deltabighat use Nomad search engine, but be sure and spell
ALFONSINA'S correctly (no ph for an f sound in Spanish).
Gonzaga trip

Worst part of your trip will be the 15 miles just north of Peurtecitos. Lots of weaving missing the huge pot holes. Air down, slow down and enjoy the
trip. Make susre your spare tire is in good shape, take a second one if you can. Good tire repair shop, gas and mini mart on road at turn off to

Butch....the bumps are just part of the trip...the worst part will be when he can't see the bay in his rear view mirror as he heads home. What a
beautiful place.
You mean like this Tim?

Thanks to all for the road info. We are heading down regardless of reservations and will make do. To me there is nothing like a road trip in Baja
and I hear Gonzaga bay is one of the prettiest places on earth. Can't wait. thanks again
If that doesn't work for you, "U2U" me and I will give you an email address of someone that can give you current info.

I'm sorry everyone. I should have posted a response last night when I first read the reference to our GonzagaLuvers web site. We have let our site
laspe. Between computer quirks and work schedules, we simply did not have the time to maintain. As far as our view of road conditions, in June when
Mike, Brandi and family drove down, they thought the road between Puertocitas (sp?) and Gonzaga was in the best shape it has ever been in. However, I
think I read on one of the boards that due to recent weather, there may be a few wash-outd in some places now--but who knows, they may be repaired by
now??.
Best EVER ?

I was fortunate to drive down that road twice just after the last grading prior
to it's intended paving. I doubt it's in that kind of shape.David K - 9-17-2004 at 12:22 PM
