Surf Fishing fun in Asuncion

It's been the hottest week of the year this week and the beaches are seeing lots of action with swimmers and fishers. It's pretty fun to watch it all unfold...here are last nights pics...spot the Nomads Tiotomas, surfdoc, bajafam and amigo Roberto y su familia, Chuy etc. the locals are happy to get some fish and the fishers are having a blast hauling them in.

Chamber of Commerce summer days this last week! Light breezes have settled in and the water temp is mid seventies. What do we do all day? Cold beer, old stories, fishing and then do it again!:lol: Halibut or Yellowtail? Pacifico or Tecate? Caracol Ceviche? :wow: Sleep como un nino, verdad. Tio

and the firm, fresh sashimi and smoked bonita are a nice touch too, halibut taco anyone...it's all about the food man.

its' been nice to have a cool breeze from the south on the patio these hot days...the blowholes' been a busy place.

Gabriel and I should be heading that way in a couple of weeks or so. Looking forward to another guys trip filled with plenty of adventures.

those are some beautiful photos Shari - the weather has been so uncommonly HOT but there is always that hint of breeze .... gotta love that ocean and the sashimi and the ceviche .... and the chips and of course the pacificos

have you all tried INDIO ????? we had it first on the mainland and it just came to la bocana and it is a great beer ! cheers !! salud !!!

On this bahia we girls are in a toss-up between the New Mix Queens and the newer, less sweet, perhaps butchier Rancho. Both are 'licious!

Best, of course, is the special treat of a tipple of Shari's prized Vino Granada
hand-crafted in Los Comondus.

The guys, they can fight amongst themselves over their beer preferences.

NEWS FLASH....Juanita's store has Indio beer!!!! and it is deliciosa indeed...we had some with today's sashimi platter when the fishermen got in...sporting those big grins brought on by a great day hauling in yellowtail....AND they saw a big bull Dorado swimming around the boat but couldnt entice him to join us for dinner...rats...but great news about dorado showing up early...woohooo



Now back to shore fishing...todays excitement was when our amiga Hilda (Roberto's esposa) caught her very first fish EVER!!!! thanks to coaching by Surfdoc Stan who loaned her his rod.



The kids were busy teaching the local plebes how to make sand angels...another perfect day in paradise.

Looks like a blast...but what's with the guy dunking his entire rod and reel in the surf? No better way to kill a fishing reel. :lol:

this new fishing technique seems to be very popular as there are often 3-4 guys out there up to their neck casting and diving under waves...must be a cheap or donated reel..hahahahaha...there is alot of dead kelp in the surf so they have to get out past it and get bigger fish out further...wonder if they soak their gear in fresh water afterwards...I'm thinkin NOT!

That motley crew of Nomads made a caravan to my house post-fishing, all in a jovial spirit that spilled over, outta the car and down the road behind 'em!

The sand? Other than a couple of dusty bathing suit bottoms everyone was remarkably fresh. Guess ev'body took a dunk as they left the beach.

In some parts of the world, anglers wear wet swits and fins to swim out and fish with rod and reel....it's called skishing.
But they use high end reels that are sealed. Your typical spinning reel will freeze up and die pretty quick regardless of fresh water rinse after the dunking!
