Forum noob here with intro and questions

Well thanks to you all...nice welcome and I do feel right at home....
I need to try to answer all in one fell swoop......

Thanks all for the great info and I will pursue more with the links, etc. I am thinking the ferry to Topolobampo will be close to getting me back to Alamos, a little town I will camp at for a few days....I like the little burg. Used to like Huatabambito too....

I can lighten up on the shocks and forks preload and that will soak up the "permanente" when I have to. It is pretty tough on a sidecar...not only do you have the two points of contact like a four wheeled vehicle has but a third wheel about 8"in front of the rear wheel so you even more exciting bangs and bounces....topes are fun too....

I may have to invest in a manzier or bro.....sorry.....I remember my wife had to wear a jog bra and cross her arms when we drove around in our little Samurai down there. It was really stiffly sprung and you felt it...

I must say my mount is an old Russian sidecar (early 70's) mounted to a vintage Honda Goldwing 1980)....so who knows what will happen....I do have a couple major parts boxed up and will leave with my bride so she can forward them to me if needed...good luck with that , huh.

The best thing I I have absolutely no time schedule, so that helps a lot..

Hola Bri and welcome to Bajanomad from us, too...good to see a sidecar enthusiast here again.

My late neighbor, Jake, was an avid sidecar fan and also hosted a few Brass Monkey rallys at his Baja casa near mine in Coyote Bay.


Another cycle fan, Steve, is living there, today..so the tradition continues.

BTW, Jake did the 4-corners a couple times...at least once with the sidecar.

I know, because he stopped to visit me in North Dakota after his 2nd left turn ..from New England to Seattle.

I remember when they had the Brass Monkey down there and I wished I had been able to go....I still haven't made one...I am always traveling elsewhere or something....

I sure will stop by....I can't seem to post a photo but will keep trying...it may just be "operator error"....

I don't mean to be mysterious. Bill is really not a big deal, just a guy that a bunch of folks know. If you don't know him, it will mean nothing to you.

My dog's name is Dina....just like the Mexican bus and truck name.

Dennis... that method goes back to 2007... Here is the most recent instructions on how (I) post photos on Nomad:

There is some misunderstanding about how to post photos... There are two methods... One is direct onto Nomad from your PC files, using the 'Browse' button under the normal posting box... In that case you can only post one photo per post AND it MUST be UNDER 50 kb. is file size. Since this is smaller than most all photos you have on you PC, you need to make a duplicate file with the photo size REDUCED to under 50 kb.

The BETTER way to show your photos is to hot link to them stored on another website... such as Photobucket.com. It is free (to a certain limit) and has an automatic resizing service... In this case, Nomad requests photos to not exceed 800 pixels in width.

On Photobucket, to upload from your PC,

1) click the red button 'Upload now'.

2) In the next window you see, at the bottom of the big box, in small blue letters, click: Customize your upload options

3) In the pop up see these choices (and more to resize to):
100x75
160x120
320x240
640x480
800x600
1024x768 ...
>>Pick 640x480 for most photos....
>>Pick 800x600 for maps or max. detail images at max. size.
CLICK SAVE!

4) Select photos (press Select Photos button) from your PC to resize and store on Photobucket. You can have multiple files to organize them.

Now, to put on Nomad!

1) Place your mouse arrow over the photo you want and get a small pop up with some codes for linking them to various media.

See the one called 'IMG code'? Click your mouse on it to copy it.

2) On the Nomad posting box, paste that code.

You can have text above or below the image link... have several images perhaps a dozen max... and then do a reply post to add more... so as to not have too many on a single frame.

The photo url begins with http:// and ends with .jpg (usually) and the IMG code puts your photos url between the tags [img] and [/img]

If your photo is already on a web site, you can click this icon
located above where you type onto Nomad (not quick reply):
and just put in the image url, and the tags are automatically added on to show your photo here.
