Leaving for La Paz mid-Oct.

Hola Nomads, I'll be leaving for our semi-annual clinic in La Paz sometime around mid October. I have to cross at Otay Mesa, as I have 18 large boxes to take down. I have clearance for Aduana from the Governor of BCS, so the time spent in customs should be minimal. My schedule is open, but I will need to arrive in La Paz at least a few days prior to Oct. 31st. I'm planning on taking my time on the way down, stopping to deliver a power wheelchair to the Flying Sam's clinic at the Los Pinos ranch south of San Quintin, then spending the night at either the Mision Santa Maria Hotel or the Cielito Lindo (they have a DYNAMITE happy hour from 4 to 5 PM). Depending on the time I leave, I could arrange to stop off at Bahia Asuncion for a couple of days of fishing (I have a 13 1/2' Gregor down there). If anyone is interested in joining me in a caravan, or if someone has a very flexible schedule and wants to ride along with me and split fuel expenses they can leave a response here or U2U me. The clinic dates are set for Oct. 31 - Nov. 11, 2011. I need to show up a few days before and to stay a few days after the clinic to clean up, reorganize, and re-stock, but other than that, the schedule for going down and back is open. Happy trails, Paul Boe

just a suggestion - instead of the happy hour at cielito, you might want to try JARDINES which is hotel and restaurant side by side. The restaurant serves really good food ! take the road to cielito with the trees lining it and hang a left at the sign for JARDINES. you will be pleasantly surprised as well as meet a lot of baja nomaders there !

Thanks Blanca, I know Jardines, been there before it became a hotel only. It used to have great food, but I don't know about the restaurant which is now next door to Jardines. Is the food as good as your lobster bisque? Say hey to Les and Rex from Paul and Shelley.

I have a few weeks off in October (2-22) and would love to Caravan down south in my RV. - I was originally thinking San Felipe, but may change my mind to go to Mulege, then La Paz...then maybe even as far as Cabo. - I've not yet done the whole peninsula by vehicle, and would feel safer to caravan.

I would have some room to help tot stuff, but need to travel earlier in the month than you had originally planned. - Are your south-bound dates flexible?

What kind of clinics are these? I am a physical therapist and it might be a fun experience to volunteer a little time.

Hola Sue, I'm somewhat open on the dates, but the 2nd is way too early. The clinic at the Los Pinos ranch (south of San Quintin) is a Flying Sam's clinic and includes prosthetics and orthotics besides other medical specialties. Dr. Bob Haining (PM&R) is my contact for that so if your ever in the area send me your email and I'll forward it to Bob. The La Paz clinic is just P&O, but we could always use a PT to assist in gait training, etc. Clinics are twice a year, one in spring and one in the fall.
