I hope you're not going to appeal to the same agency that gave him the beating. That probably wouldn't work out too well.
Wish I could help.

It worked in Fullerton, didn't it.

I just googled Constitucion on Nomads and came up with many posts but this one has a telephone number. You might want to look through some of them for more info

CP - 10-5-2011 at 08:00 AM

Thank you.

ncampion - 10-5-2011 at 08:01 AM

Sr. Vilalejas, Sub-Ddirector de Policia
613-100 19 10

Good luck

Woooosh - 10-5-2011 at 08:34 AM

The head of the San Jose de Cabo PGJE and the Police Chief were just arrested for robbing people. They were working together. Be careful. Everyone is desperate for money.

as sad as it is, i think it not wise for gringos to make too much noise down here...this is not a one time incident.

DianaT - 10-5-2011 at 09:15 AM

It is VERY important --- thanks for posting this information and please continue to post information about this incident. Sad, very sad.

I sure hope your friend heals quickly!

DENNIS - 10-5-2011 at 09:16 AM

Sounds like it was "pay-back" time. Sometimes, one just has to swallow his pride and his principals. Move on.
Ohh...yeah, lock your doors.

No matter how nice you ask

The commandante won't give the money back.

Woooosh - 10-5-2011 at 09:52 AM

Don't bother. Corruption in Baja is rampant now. Maybe it always was, I don;t know. Police Chiefs, PGJE, Prosecutors- the list is from top down and complete. You will only put yourself in danger and no money will ever be returned. The only thing different is we are able to find out about it from you via the internet right away with transparency.

Eventually this transparency will either cleanse or kill Mexico. Could go either way but the trend is not good. Everyone is scrambling for money.

Up north here in Rosarito the entire police force is corrupt according to the Military...

Thanks for listening.

cops operate with impunity. complaining to top cop may only bring retaliation and more pain. may be better to talk discretely with politically-powerful non-cop locals...

the cops lack humanity and lack moral fiber. they are simply criminals, and worst of all are criminals with badges and guns. the only solution is for the people take back their government, and eliminate the government that gave license to cops to be criminals.

foreigners can't make the change, only the citizens can take back their government

so so sorry for your neighbour, I hope he recovers quickly and justice is done...also it would be wise to contact your presidente municipal and report the story as well as the newspaper Sudcaliforniano & colectivo pericu.

sure.. set them up for the death squads.

shari - 10-5-2011 at 11:35 AM

Lately I have been reading alot lately about police brutality in baja sur in Colectivo Perico...I believe that the locals have had enough of this and are trying to publicize it so the culprits are punished...silence only ensures more victims.

This isn't a mordida. There are no squeaks allowed when police have gone to these violent extremes. You don't want to put people in danger if they don't know the risks of speaking out.

TMW - 10-5-2011 at 02:17 PM

How do you know they were really police and not someone dressed as police?

Nice to see you two forming such a cozy alliance.

Dave - 10-5-2011 at 02:26 PM

CP, does your neighbor know you are repeating this story on the internet?

Because if it were me, I wouldn't feel comfortable.

BajaBlanca - 10-5-2011 at 04:53 PM

I agree with the theory that perhaps they were NOT cops at all.

Also, I am very glad you shared the story - one must be aware of what is going on around us.

My heartfelt sympathies with your neighbor .... prayers prayers prayers.

Terrible news! I have been reading posts during my 6 month membership to Nomads and the news I read about mexico are disheartening, I am hoping things start to get better not worse I am planning on retiring in Baja in a few years but everywhere in mexico is getting more dangerous. Stay Safe!:fire:

Please Forgive Any Ignorance

Why this attack on a man in his home?

woody with a view - 10-5-2011 at 05:46 PM

They robbed him for one thing.
Also, it was said he was an anti-police corruption advocate. That could have caused a repercussion.

That they didn't completely kill him tells me it was the police.

The bright side is they didn't kill him. He should leave town or become apolitical.

or both for six months. Then come back humble if he wants to retire in that house.

No one can tell the real cops from the fakes- the uniforms and cars are identical now. Real cops need a warrant.
