Netflix in Mexico

OK, I figured a way to use my US subscription in Mexico. I installed a program that "cloaks" your IP address. Then you can go to Netflix or Pandora radio and others like that and use the service just like you do in the US. Just streamed a movie last night on the basic internet DSL service from Telmex, no glitches at all.

I use http://www.tunnelbear.com, they charge $4.99 per month. It is super easy to use and highly recommended. There are probably some free ones out there for one who has the time to tweak with this.

How much did it slow your download using the NEW IP?
Did it do a lot of buffering?

It did not slow anything down that I could notice. Buffering was not noticeable either but I always set it up and let it sit for 5 or 10 minutes or so before I watch the film. Go get a glass of wine, cut up some cheese, I find that that eliminates any glitches once I start watching.

I had hooked up to an outside IP and it would buffer every 10 minutes and for 20 minutes at a time.

Id the Mexican netflix worth the trouble?

Is it possible to download Tunnelbear and then set up a new account with US Netflix? Or is it necessary to already have an account set up with Netflix?:?::?:

CJ..

You should set up your VPN service.. then you can have access to set up US based "blocked" sites as you want..
I am using this service.. Runs $55 yr

http://strongvpn.com/

By the way... I have not noticed any loss of speed when connected to VPN or Telmex DSL..

We also use strongvpn.com/Telmex DSL with no problems. Besides Netflix we enjoy watching HBO GO and USTV on our big screen TV via the computer through a cable thing...I am not a "techie", the hubby is.

Netflix is streaming in Mexico effective mid-September so you don't need VPN, unless you want it for something else. If you do a Google search below on 'Netflix" you'll see a couple of threads regarding this topic.

Your US account is good in Mexico.

You are correct. We have been watching Netflix for a couple of year with the vpn, long before they started streaming in Mexico beside we still need it for Hulu. The hubby said it adds an additional layer of security when we travel and use a WiFi connection. I'm not a techie, he is.

My Us Netflix did not work here in Mx. I would get tunnelbear first so that there are no IP glitches, get Netflix and then enjoy.
