That is a scary place to put houses!! The road moves on a regular basis. Half the time I can get air in the Tundra!
They have done some grading and compacting, a few large retaining walls and some plumbing, but don't hold your breath.
It is a beautiful place to fish, if you ignore the tuna pens. I've pulled some nice calicos and halibut fishing the rocky shore and kelp stringers.

That little stone pool was just epic, with the grass bank and palm tree, a perfect way to rinse off after a session outside. Now is is full of cow
crap, overgrown with reeds, the whole place is overrun with trash. It was a perfect oasis. One family used to live there, Laredo ran the place. He
kept up the place very nice and clean. Now there are a dozen families there and they don't seem to care about the place one bit. They have trashed

My dad has some great stories about fishing there with his dad in the 40's and then going back to surf there in 1950. He and his buddies missed a few
days of work after a heavy spring rain and they could not get back up the old dirt road up over to El Tigre until it dried out. I surfed there quite a
bit in the 70's. The right direction and size you could get some long ones.

12/10/83 #3 of a 4 shot sequence. i was the only guy in the water at the time. my buddy got the shots and paddled out. it was the first time i'd ever
been to Salsi, and as it turned out, the last. the best wave of my life. 6'5" single fin pintail.
the shark wouldn't bite, the bee wouldn't sting, and Bugs Bunny tip-toed through the brush unnoticed.....

Great pics. I have a few but they're digital and don't look as cool.
I'll never forget paddling out (december 2005) at the reef in front of the campgrounds when it was double overhead, and proceeded to take about a
fifteen footer on the head. I gave up and checked around the corner. The point was firing, more protected from the wind, and only 2 guys out. VW
size boulders took my center fin while trying to paddle out. Still, a fun 3 hours in the water and the last time I ever surfed the point. Almond
shaped barrels that made the loudest, most violent cracking sound as the lip exploded into the flats.
Had birthday parties, bachelor parties, and solo camp trips over the years. Like I said, it was the last place that you could do a decent camp trip

my buddy was freaking out looking at those boulders. he was worried how i planned to get back in since it was our first time there. i told him to just
get some pictures and then i jumped in! after that session i never felt the need to go back and ruin the memories.....

I have visited it a few times in the recent past and came away 100% sad and angry, not how I like to be. I just couldn't believe how the families
there could so completely trash out such a beautiful place.
As a side note, in the 60's I took my old '51 Willys Jeep, and from the freeway I drove a steep dirt road to the top of the mountains. Up there on a
grassy field was the most beautiful hacienda I have ever seen, just classic Mexican rancho. Out of respect, I did not approach it, but the image in my
mind is something I will never forget. I am sure that dirt road would have eventually hit the "free road" on the other side. My guess is that that
dirt road was the only way in for a long long time before the toll road was built. How Salsipuedes earned its name.
