I don't believe anything is 100% one way, I call
that attitude the Pollyana approach. You know, not a care
in the world, everything is roses. One is totally
naive to subscribe to that notion. Following that
authors logic, one should totally ingore the obvious.
Be it past or more current events. I spoke to a Solo Bicycle
Traveller on Coast Hwy in San Clemente a couple weeks back, SHE sounded Austrailian, was heded down Baja.
That may sound like an adventure, but I would not advise
it. Kinda like looking at US American life thru a Norman
Rockwell painting, sitting around the porch sipping
lemonade. Possibilities of something negative happening
to a traveller in Mex? Very slim, hasn't happened to me
in 25 yrs

two years ago has NOTHING to do with mexico today.

One person's personal experience in Mexico hardly shows the full picture. Obviously, this guy and Maggie would have a radical difference of opinion, but I'd side with Maggie as she quotes the National and Local news sources.
This guy is quoting his soul....hardly a reliable source of current events.

Nice try though.

Mas O Menos

J.P. - 10-12-2011 at 08:17 PM

Everyone has a different truth. I dont expect my truth to the same as anyones. most people that have traveled have experinced far worse things than what goes on around here.

If you want to think badly of a place travel the world bus depot to bus depot.
Don't open your eyes if your forced to be a few blocks away.

The couple who own that website became disenchanted with Mexico, sold their home in the Yucatan, and now live in Maine where they operate a restaurant.

Maybe they'll start a website on called "TheTruthAboutMaine.com"?

I've had few problems in Mexico. Life is a risk, if you enjoy Mexico then enjoy and accept the risk.

A truism of Baja:

10 veteran world-tourists visit Baja from many diverse countries.

10 intelligent foreigners of adequate means move from their home countries to Baja.

10 years later all 20 have different ideas of "The Truth about Baja (Mexico)."

Conclusion: Opinions about the "Truth of Baja" are ultimately determined by your 'feelings' and not your intellect.

If you're always searching hard for that certain 'truth', you'll never be satisfied or find it...on the other hand, letting the truth of Baja find you is a sure and easy thing.

So very glad 'my' version of Baja found me..as did yours.
