Marc, if you get pulled over for speeding it won't be because of what the radar gun says but because of what the cop says the radar

Depends on the type of "band" that the radar unit is working on.........can be K, Ka or X. Many businesses use devices such as microwave ovens that
give a "false positive" for X band radar
They may even be using Laser or LADAR type traffic speed measuring devices.
Before you purchase a detector, check and see what type of devices it detects.

Next time you get stopped by "RADAR", ask to see the speed display, and ask them the last time the RADAR was calibrated and how the calibration was

The funny (or not really funny) thing about this is that for them to properly use a doppler radar speed measuring unit, they're supposed to watch your
speed entirely through the beam (including driving in and out of the beam). If they can show you the speed, they didn't watch you leave the
measurement beam. Arguable in court, but it sells most people seeing the speed # blinking on the doppler RADAR unit.
What Dave says is the reality in Mexico though... it's not what the RADAR unit says, it's what the police officer says the RADAR unit
says (right or wrong). Thinking that traffic court in Baja offers similar opportunities to protest as the USA - IMHO - is, well, a "stretch".

I was stopped just South of Guerrero Nergo a couple of months ago by a Federal Police with a radar gun. He was very polite, pointed to my speedometer

I'm with those who think that having a radar detector down these parts is silly. Come on, be truthful, how many of us DON'T speed while driving down
here? Given how low the maximum speed limit is on most highways in Mexico, I've never been pulled over on the highway when I didn't deserve a ticket
for speeding.
