Wondering about hotels

BajaDixon - 10-31-2011 at 08:26 AM

Hello Everyone- This is my first post on this site. My wife and I live part time in the San Quintin area.

Of a group of friends and I are an 1800 mile backroad trip on Polaris RZR4's and I'm wondering about sleeping accommodations in a few areas.

There is a town north of La Paz on the coast called San Juan de la Costa. Is there a hotel there?

Another place we are looking to stay is San Francisquito. Anybody familiar with what's out there for sleeping accommodations?

Thanks. Bob

Hi BajaDixon and welcome to the sandbox...nice to have new blood (it IS Halloween after all!) we look forward to hearing more about your barrio, life in baja and your adventures.

San Juan de la Costa is a mining village and there are no accomodations I know of...but lots of great camping beaches there. Comitan isnt far away...I suggest you U2U him about a possible visit/stay...it is a great spot.

SAn Francisquito has some rustic palapas with cots in them...not sure if they have bedding or not and there is a restaurant there too that may be open! Hopefully Pacifico might chime in with more info or U2U him.

In the top left of the Nomad page is a search engine... it works great. On the bottom is a Google Search, also.

Welcome to Nomad!

Hi there--

My sister will be with you on that trip and we had suggested you head out our way---arrangements would be no problem. but I know it is out of the way and the other side should be beautiful this time of the year.

Maybe next time----when any of you do decide to come out the Vizcaino to Bahia Asuncion, talk to Rose and she will give you our contact information and we can get you set up. Maybe whale watching time. I WILL get my sister here yet, or at least some of her friends. Chet and Becky keep saying they might come, and Rose, well, promises, promises, promises .

Do have a great time, it should be a great trip. Maybe we will see you next time we are through your way.

Diane

Duh. Why didn't I think of that. It's like when I'm leaving the house and ask my wife where my glasses are and she says- on your head!

Hi DianaT- We may end up heading your way after all. Until we make our way from Cabo to San Ignacio it will be hard to know if we'll have the time or not. Both Chet and I have always wanted to explore your area though. Thanks for the hospitality.

Meals are $12 at San Francisquito.

If you have time, and have more than one vehicle, there is some beautiful and fantastic country to explore south of San Francisquito-----very unique area, big old ranches, and you could spend several days down there and see some of the "old" Baja as it was back in the '50's and '60's-----but you would have to be able to "camp" unless you just did long day-trips out of San Francisquito.

BajaDixon, we will be waiting for a trip report with photos, sounds like fun. JH

BajaBlanca - 11-1-2011 at 12:47 PM

welcome to BN Baja Dixon ! If you do make it to Bahia Asuncion, and find that you indeed have time for another day trip on your hands, head south along the coast and you will see some really neat incredible small villages south of Asuncion .. and we live in La Bocana, one of them ! Bring a beer for Les and join him on the porch as he contemplates the ocean every single afternoon LOL

south of us is Punta Abreojos - beautiful waves to watch (surfer destination) ...

Welcome to the board, Bob. And no, there are no hotel accomodations at San Juan de la Costa. It is a recently-reopened company mining town that takes out phosphorous rock.
