A helicopter carrying Francisco Blake Mora, Secretary of the Interior, crashed about one hour ago as he was travelling to a meeting in Cuernavaca. No
report yet on the condition of the passengers or crew. Blake Mora was from Tijuana.
crashed or shot down? He was in charge of fighting the cartels.sanquintinsince73 - 11-11-2011 at 12:51 PM
Secretary of the interior. He was something or other in Tijuana prior to being picked by Calderon to his present post.Oddjob - 11-11-2011 at 01:18 PM
Former Interior Minister Juan Camilo Mourino died in a plane crash three years ago. The crash of the Learjet was blamed on pilot error.Woooosh - 11-11-2011 at 01:47 PM
This crash is being blamed on "fog"... so far. It is impossible to die in Mexico without a conspiracy theory though.BajaGringo - 11-11-2011 at 01:47 PM
Blake Mora was the secretario de gobernacion for the state of Baja California before leaving the post for the same position at the federal level under
Calderon. It is at least suspicious as he assumed the position taking the place of Juan Camilo Mouriņo who died in an airplane accident in late 2008.
Blake Mora was known very well by several in our group when he held the office here at the state level, personally visiting our abalone project in the
summer of 2008.BajaGringo - 11-11-2011 at 02:09 PM

You are right - they love a good conspiracy theory here. When working/living in Mexico City I had the chance to make the drive out to Cuernavaca on
almost a weekly basis. That area is really prone to heavy fog which I thought was a big no-no for helicopters???Mengano - 11-11-2011 at 04:32 PM
Calderon said the helicopter was well-maintained and well-guarded and it was a weather accident. He says Blake Mora was born into a humble family in
Tijuana and worked his way up.

He was in line to be the PAN canditate for Governor of Baja Norte.Bajahowodd - 11-11-2011 at 05:22 PM
No question that conspiracy theories will abound. Especially since he had a great track record in both BC and at the federal level.Woooosh - 11-11-2011 at 05:45 PM

Usually you think of a conspiracy as "blowing smoke", not fog. Maybe the Fast & Furious program sold the cartels the super duper Low-Altitude
Water Vapor Saturation Enhancer? hmm...
