bajabass - 11-12-2011 at 08:19 AM

rubencastillo - 11-12-2011 at 08:23 AM

rts551 - 11-12-2011 at 08:33 AM

90% chance n Ensenada today. be careful. Its a mess there and Maneadero when it rains

Bajaboy - 11-12-2011 at 08:36 AM

It has been raining since about 6am here in SD

DENNIS - 11-12-2011 at 08:40 AM

Steady rain here in Imperial Beach --- the kind that will make a real mess out of the construction area if it comes your way.

Yep, raining here in North County San Diego!

What construction is going on south of Maneadero? How big of a mess is it?

David K - 11-12-2011 at 08:54 AM

Light rain the last hour... nothing at the moment, in Oceanside (North San Diego County).

bajabass - 11-12-2011 at 09:12 AM

About 5 or 6 miles of dirt deviaciones just before and just after the hills between Maneadero and Santo Tomas. Had rain in Ensenada last Friday night, and the road was a muddy, rough mess. Not dangerous then, but be careful!!

Juanita - 11-12-2011 at 09:38 AM

Began very light drizzle in the night in San Ignacio and continues now and again. How we hope for more! The ranches have been so dry the goats can't give milk, so no cheese to sell, and the cattle have to be fed with bales of hay.

I also hope the ranches get the well needed rain. The condition of many of the animals is terrible. As I am sure you do, we just always hope that too much rain does not happen at one time.

tiotomasbcs - 11-12-2011 at 09:46 AM

Shari, I guess your guests will have to wait. Maybe hot chocolate with brandy and some beachcombing/fishing? And a movie like The Big Lebowski! Weather looks like rain. Let's hope so.:bounce: Tio

[Edited on 11-12-2011 by shari]

DENNIS - 11-12-2011 at 10:48 AM

So much for sunny skies. It's just starting to get a little misty ....chipi-chipi, as they call it here. The North sky is dark and coming our way.
Sharky's opens in twelve minutes. Now.....if I hurry...........

.

shari - 11-12-2011 at 11:01 AM

run Dennis run....just got a report from Guerrero Negro and it's raining hard there...uh oh.

bacquito - 11-12-2011 at 12:38 PM

11:30 and raining fairly heavy.

shari - 11-12-2011 at 12:48 PM

where are you bacquito?

DENNIS - 11-12-2011 at 12:51 PM

Funny thing is....the owner of Sharky's, a roofing contractor in L.A., came down yesterday to fix the leaky roof at the restaurant. Had he not, I would probably be sitting on my barstool under an umbrella.
This rain is nice. Not too heavy and, from what they say, won't last forever.
I guess the best thing to do is just let it rain.
SALUD

1:00 pm, Saturday in Rosarito

Gypsy Jan - 11-12-2011 at 02:01 PM

Completely grey skies with a steady, soft downpour of rain, no wind.

[Edited on 11-12-2011 by Gypsy Jan]

Lindalou - 11-12-2011 at 02:15 PM

pouring down here in Punta Banda, it does let up for a few minutes at a time. 1:14 PM

David K - 11-12-2011 at 02:38 PM

Finally started raining again here in Oceanside (1:38 pm) ... the most since 4 am when it started coming down hard.

Ateo - 11-12-2011 at 02:41 PM

It's raining here in Ensenada area.

rts551 - 11-12-2011 at 02:43 PM

Thanks for the Baja updates. Keep em coming.

David K - 11-12-2011 at 02:58 PM

Thanks for all Baja Nomad updates. Keep em coming.:light:

BajaBlanca - 11-12-2011 at 03:19 PM

we have real coudy skies

and when it rains the drops disappear before one can say "it's raining !"

our local bocanita camper said it rained at 4 in the morning, but I was up and never saw it myself .... I sure hope the mountains get some lluvia - as has been mentioned, the animals are really desperate for some foliage.

Russ - 11-12-2011 at 03:50 PM

Cloudy & windy 72º now

There is is a cell that has parked itself over the center of San Diego. It's hardly moved in the last hour. So far a steady rain but we're starting to get saturated. I'd like it to move on.....

How funny - Russ' post just beat mine, and yes, that's the cell that wants to stay.

[Edited on 11-12-2011 by danaeb]

bacquito - 11-12-2011 at 04:34 PM

3:30 p.m. Heavy rain!

Howard - 11-12-2011 at 04:41 PM

80 degrees with wind today. Low in the low 60s.

Slightly cloudy skies

Oh yeah, this is in Loreto.

Pompano - 11-12-2011 at 04:44 PM

The townspeople of Mulege are talking about RAIN. Sure does feel like it....heavy cloud cover now and cooling down.

EmeraldDawn - 11-12-2011 at 04:46 PM

It's raining and raining and raining and RAINING in Rosarito.

Ateo - 11-12-2011 at 05:21 PM

Still raining here in Primo Tapia. Steady, consistent rain for last 5 hours. The surf out front is brown from dirt and "other" runoff.

Ateo - 11-12-2011 at 05:42 PM

Enormous double rainbow over Puerto Nuevo. Just took a picture. Sorry, can't post cuz photobucket sucks. There has to be an easier way......

Oggie - 11-12-2011 at 05:53 PM

Light rain in BOLA today. We really need it. The locals can't use their wipers,
because the rubber part has long ago dried up and blown away.

Pompano - 11-12-2011 at 06:07 PM

Rain just starting outside of Mulege...and in Mulege, too, I imagine.

Imageshack is better I think. They also have a downloadable uploader (if you see what I mean).

Russ - 11-12-2011 at 06:34 PM

Light rain for the last half hour. Drops not just sprizzle. E wind to 18mph

vandenberg - 11-12-2011 at 06:38 PM

Just overcast, but, as usual, not a drop here in Loreto/Nopolo.

Ensenada

bajaguy - 11-12-2011 at 06:41 PM

Pouring rain, lightning and thunder

rts551 - 11-12-2011 at 06:42 PM

wow. wonder how the construction areas (in Baja) are doing.

DENNIS - 11-12-2011 at 06:45 PM

Don't know, Ralph. It came down here for a while like a cow pssing on a flat rock. Thunder and lightning as well.
I think it's over.

I recently drove through all the construction zones in northern Baja...Hwy 3 to Ensenada and then south. North Baja...Most of the time it was raining..and the roads were still very much drivable. Not a problem at all. I was in a motorhome with boat/trailer, so that's a worst-case scenario.

Unless this turns into torrential rains, it should present no problems out of the ordinary.

rts551 - 11-12-2011 at 06:52 PM

probably a few brown outs, as one might say

Roberto - 11-12-2011 at 06:56 PM

Drove down from Santa Ana today, left about 1:00. By the time I hit El Toro, it was really coming down. And, it got progressively stronger. By the time I got home about 2:30, it had rained all the way down and across to North County. I mean REAL rain - not the SoCal fake stuff. Needed wipers on high and everything. You could see the people starting to panic on the roads.:lol::lol::lol:

woody with a view - 11-12-2011 at 07:07 PM

i hurried home from work today and took the tundra out for a spin on the highway to clean the underside REAL GOOD. too many baja trips (don't get me wrong!) and driving on the beaches and, well, it's REALLY hard to get the underside rinsed properly at the carwash.....:light:

BajaGringo - 11-12-2011 at 07:40 PM

Started to rain heavy on the beach west of San Quintin around noon. I headed up north - Hwy 1 wasn't too bad and even all the road work north of Santo Tomas is very doable (so far). The worst part was downtown Ensenada and the toll road north when hitting deep water pockets...

Ensenada, Pt II

bajaguy - 11-12-2011 at 07:45 PM

Heavy monsoon type rain for the last hour, with lightning and thunder

Pompano - 11-12-2011 at 07:51 PM

Rain quit some time ago in Mulege area. I think we got .00000001 centimeters. My parakeet drank all the patio pools.

Bob and Susan - 11-12-2011 at 08:00 PM

its 8pm

raining at the bay

kinda heavy...not a mist

bajabass - 11-12-2011 at 08:02 PM

Starting to look like rain here, let's hope!

Ateo - 11-12-2011 at 08:11 PM

Just drove into Rosarito proper in the dark to find a fricken ATM. Why are there no ATMs from Rosarito to Ensenada? Ok I'm sure there are, but every one I went to was closed or abandoned. Anyways, light rain, tons of pot holes on the free road, and feeling dangerous. Just ate at Ollie's Pizza and ready to pass out.

[Edited on 11-13-2011 by ateo]

shari - 11-12-2011 at 08:22 PM

8:30 and starry skies here at the moment but blowing from the south....very weird and smells like guano from the island which is also really bizarre....maybe we're done with rain? but there is a honkin swell out there...up to around 10' now

Ateo - 11-12-2011 at 08:30 PM

Clear skies now. Heading to pool with kids. No rain in Rosarito.

Riom - 11-12-2011 at 09:54 PM

Light rain on and off this evening near San Felipe, about 0.1" so far.

Unless it comes down heavier overnight there's not really enough to cause any problems. Nice for the plants though, the desert is already really green from the 1.25" of rain on September 13th.

landyacht318 - 11-12-2011 at 10:11 PM

As of 9:07 Saturday night, the center of circulation of this highly unpredictable cut off low is still offshore. The Big rain bands might have moved through, but the instability is still there.

It appears to me as if the center of circulation will make landfall around El Rosario, though I did hear some SD " weathermen" predict Ensenada.

Might be premature to put away the umbrellas depending on where you are.

BornFisher - 11-12-2011 at 10:28 PM

Did not to fail to disappoint here in North San Diego county. A perfect rain to keep those annual grasses growing. Hope Baja gets their needed rail too. Here are some SD totals---

Hook - 11-13-2011 at 04:40 AM

Big band of heavy rain, about to descend on the Cape area. Zoom out and animate this map, if it isnt animated.

I cant ever recall a Pacific storm making it this far south. Some of this might reach Mazatlan.

Rain, heavy at times, over here on the Sonoran coast. Heavy enough to hurt seedlings I have in the ground.:(

Mulegena - 11-13-2011 at 05:51 AM

A good, heavy wet rain came down on the Baja Central Coast
(no, I didn't say "The Baja"-- hate that) in the middle of the night

with all our plywood sheets out on the pickup!

YIKES!!

gotta get UP!

Edited to add I just checked out Hook's sat photo -- WOW -- So. Baja's in for some rain (and mud). Happy for the green desert that's on its way in a month or so from this rain and the animals that'r gonna eat and drink and otherwise be merry.

Hope your garden seedlings stand up to this, Hook.

DENNIS - 11-13-2011 at 06:00 AM

Well....that nice gentle rain I spoke of yesterday turned into a freakin typhoon yesterday afternoon. Lots of water flying at high speed, sideways.

First thing on today's list....Leak Patrol. So far, I have none, but wind-driven rain will find the smallest opening.

shari - 11-13-2011 at 06:58 AM

buenos dias patos....I'm just finished leak patrol...our new addition's roof is not sealed and all bowls and pans are appropriately positioned....ahh the sound of drips in the morning! Yes, there was a minor deluge even here where it so rarely rains...the ranchers must be celebrating this morning and my truck even got washed! Looks like all the rain has passed us by now....wonder how ya'll did in Mulege?

tiotomasbcs - 11-13-2011 at 07:25 AM

Beautiful dark cumulous clouds here in the south west--Todos Santos area. Warm south wind in the afternoon but no rain! Sunrise with dark clouds over the Sierra and Pacific but not a drop of rain last nite. Hook, what happened?? Tio

Oggie - 11-13-2011 at 07:26 AM

Light rain in Bahia de los Angeles this morning.

mulegemichael - 11-13-2011 at 08:24 AM

it came down like it was poured from a pitcher for about 45 minutes while the pacquiao/marquez fight was on so i didn't go out and look at it...but it really dumped on us....none now tho.

DENNIS - 11-13-2011 at 08:35 AM

Beautiful blue skies...no wind. All is well....til next weekend, anyway.

Loreto

tehag - 11-13-2011 at 08:39 AM

Rain here from 3 to 5:30 or so. Not real heavy, but the most here in over 15 months. Should be enough to green up and maybe even let some goat cheese appear.

Oceanside, CA

David K - 11-13-2011 at 09:37 AM

Sunday morning all blue skys!

We had a good steady rain all afternoon and most of the evening yesterday. Gave us 1" yesterday, which now puts us at double the 'norm' for the season, so far.

rts551 - 11-13-2011 at 02:09 PM

Any update on the highway (in baja)? Construction zones muddy?(i'm sure)

Looks like it mostly rode north of you. It's doing a strange SW to NE thing.

You might still get some.

We got MAYBE a 1/4 inch.

bajalinda - 11-13-2011 at 04:00 PM

It started raining here at La Aguja around 3pm - nice light rain that quickly dropped off to a mere drizzle. Then about 5 minutes ago it picked up and we are having a wonderful gentle soaking rain.

Russ - 11-13-2011 at 04:33 PM

It's been cloudy all day. Wind's been hanging in the 20's out of the South. Now at around 4pm it looks like Mulege maybe getting a shower. Weird Washington type day. But dry:(

Bob and Susan - 11-13-2011 at 04:35 PM

rain in mulege again...about 3pm...

harder than yesterday...some puddles

not too bad

bajabass - 11-13-2011 at 05:06 PM

Light rain/drizzle in La Paz right now!!! Finally.

Pompano - 11-13-2011 at 05:20 PM

Pitter-patter near Mulege now .

tiotomasbcs - 11-13-2011 at 06:09 PM

Since three pm dark skies and now black clouds out west are giving us hope of rain! 5pm and sprinkles as clouds comes in from the west across to the east. I can't get too excited as it hasn't rained all season but.. but maybe! It's still a beautiful 80 degrees with a nice breeze. Rain, pleeze! Tio:cool: plenty cold Pacifico to help keep cool!

bajabass - 11-13-2011 at 07:23 PM

About 2 1/2 hours of steady, light rain. Perfect! Let it soak in, instead of run off. Should be even more beautiful here for awhile.
