this one is native to mexico and it is called elegans .... when I bought it, it had flowers but this is the first time it flowered here in Baja

I am not sure what the name of this one is, but this is the first time it has flowered too. they were prettier but I did not get a chance to photograph them then

This wasn't the first flower for our cactus, but it was the first flower that we ever saw on our cactus. It was a proud cactus parent moment. Our cactus is growing up.

Pretty cactus flower there! Your unknown plant is one of the Kalanchoe tribe, but not sure which one (there are a lot!). Possibly K. daigremontiana but that's a longshot.

and for the token grandchild shot.....

Mexitron - 11-22-2011 at 01:20 PM

Wow Shari, never knew a Castor Bean was so pretty up close...nice. Blanca---that blue flower you have is a Mexican Petunia (Ruellia brittoniana) if you didn't know already---I know that one by virtue of my former life in TX where it is quite widely used (I'm back in CA now--yay!).

shari - 11-22-2011 at 04:58 PM

Castor bean??? is that that red one next to last? I thought that purple flower looked like a petunia but it only bloomed for a day? bummer

BajaBlanca - 11-22-2011 at 05:11 PM
