Meeting Nomads in Baja

Oggie - 11-25-2011 at 12:04 PM

I have just returned from a one week trip to our house in Bahia de los Angeles. On the way down I met JP and his wife at the Ensenada Costo and Susanna and her husband at the Jardines restuarant in San Quintin. In Bahia I met Bajawarrior and his wife at China's taco stand. It was great meetng these fellow Nomads.

That's great. Now, there are over 7,400 Nomad members.

One time my wife and I were having a Margie at Scotty's El Candil in Mulege, and someone came up to me and asked me if I was Bob H. You never know when you will meet a fellow Nomad! It's always fun.

DENNIS - 11-25-2011 at 12:53 PM

A couple of days ago, I had to be pulled out of the mud over at La Bufadora and after one beer and a short conversation, one of my saviors asked if I was the Dennis on Nomad. Usually I wouldn't answer that question without a gun in my hand, but I said yes and all was well in this small world.
He wasn't as yet a registered Nomad, but said he was ready to make the big commitment.

Was Sharkey's closed?

BTW, a sad sign of the times. Maybe you recall how long Celia's was in business....

She was there for quite a while. Been closed for a few years now and should have closed five years before she did.
The property for sale is only the buildings. Toscano owns the land.
She'll have to give it away to get rid of it.

She's loaded. Won't hurt.

On our drive down to Bahia Asuncion the other day we were stopped at one of the soldier checkpoint and two cars ahead of us there was a truck that had a Baja Nomad sticker on the back, I got all excited and was bouncing in my seat, but unfortunately didn't get to say hello!

We have been lucky in the past to meet many of you wonderful nomads all over Baja and hope to continue doing so!!!

BajaGringo - 11-26-2011 at 08:23 AM

Sorry we missed you guys when you were here. Next time for sure...

Cute....but no. Like I said, he was a BN follower, knowing that there was some clown named DENNIS living in the area, and when I gave him the opportunity, he asked.
BULLSEYE.

I met Oggie and his wife today...

In the Oceanside Target where I work P/T. I was just getting ready to leave when he stopped me and asked if I was Amo Pescar. We had a brief conversation before I had to run off to clock out.

There are numerous Nomads living in North San Diego County and I told him we should all get together sometime to have a beer.

Good meeting you Oggie!

Yes, we (my Wife and I) met Oggie in his home away from home Bahia de los Angeles on Sunday Nov. 20th.

We just arrived from our Beach House at South Campos San Felipe and braved the treacherous dirt road through Gonzaga Bay.

We secured our Hotel room at Costa del Sol (thank you everyone for the recomendations) and were in need of lunch. We doubled back through town and noticed a "gringo" having lunch at a little stand along the road.

We pulled over, got out, walked over, sat down and this gentleman asked what my screen name was?!

Had a laugh and replied "BajaWarrior". Oggie laughed, and said he knew and we all introduced ourselves by name.

We shared a fine fish/shrimp lunch and swapped stories and Oggie invited us to stop by when we were done exploring Punta La Gringa which we did. We sipped a cool beer on his patio with an unobstructed view of the Bahia. Oggie has many bird feeders and there was a lot of bird activity that late afternoon. We stayed till dark watching the last of the light in the sky fade away and just had a great time engaged in conversation.

So, Oggie, we'll be back. We love it there. Thanks for the hospitality!

Also, a shout out to LarryC and his lovely wife for being such great hosts the following day. Again, another Baja couple living the life in their slice of paradise. Thank you Larry, see you soon we hope.

Sounds good... I had a nice visit with Kashey Dog on the beach in Carlsbad a couple weeks ago.

It's always a great time when meeting fellow BN's.......even the Pacific side ones :-)

I've met up a handful of BN's over the years.....and decided it was time to do a open party. The McFestival last year was great
