Bombers, Ribs, and Steam

motoged - 11-27-2011 at 03:00 PM

Well, today is Canada's BIG football game, the Grey Cup !

The BC Lions are playing the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.....I have a dilemma....I grew up in Winnipeg and painted my first football helmet gold....just like the Bombers....so, I have a deep connection on that level.......but I have lived in BC since '73....so have a bit of BC pride

Who should I root for???

Well, it doesn't matter as I have a distraction:

The BBQ rib recipe thread got me thinking....so I have three racks marinating overnight with an invented recipe based on my gourmet tastes and gourmand tendencies....

When at the liquor store looking for some intoxicants today, I came across a favourite (and RARE in Canada)....Anchor Steam beer!!!!:biggrin::yes:

It brings back tremendous California memories from years gone by....so I picked up the last 6-pack.

So, some Malbec for the ribfest, and the Anchor Steam for the tailgate party.

But I must say, I would rather be in Mulege eating fish tacos with a Negro Modello....

BG,
I can do that....but it might be 11 year old whiskey the next time I will pass through...

I have discovered Jamison Irish whiskey and love it....

Gotta try that Alberta Springs........smooth, over the rocks.

I hear they have either a 15 or 20 year version also, but probably out of my price range
