On Nov. 29, HughesNet announced the addition of a new, free "Download Bank" feature to their satellite Internet service that will carry over your
unused data allowance to the following day, up to 2x your plan's maximum daily transfer allowance. If you are a current customer, this feature will be
rolled out in stages. If you are a new customer, the Download Bank will automatically start upon activation of a new HughesNet account. Here is an
example of how the Download Bank rollover works:
You can still schedule large downloads using the HughesNet Download Manager, or restore service by using your free monthly restore token.
Although HughesNet didn't specify, I'm assuming this change will apply to both HN9000 and HN7000-based plans. You may still have problems and hit
your limit trying to download a big movie but it's nice to see that HughesNet is responding to competition in the US from WildBlue. Benefits their

They are not responding well enough! That download scheduler, for instance, only works on PCs....not on Macs. That means that any large security
update of Safari, for instance, can't be downloaded without exceeding the limit. We have to take the Mac back to the US to get it updated about every
three months.
I went to the Hughesnet "chat" help page...got some dude who was obviously in Mombai and who couldn't say anything but "I sorry you feel that way."
He was culturally unable to deal with any problem.
The HughesNet ads on TV imply that their service is somewhere close to as good as either cable or DSL...that is a lie.
I hope BlueSky etc get their act together because HughesNet has been riding free on their monopoly way too long.

Downloads? Which things do you download the most? Music-movies? I've used Hughes.net since 1999 in Baja Sur and have yet to download anything...and
really do not know how to begin. I assume you download/copy something to your computer and then to a disc?
Perhaps I'm missing something worthwhile.
BTW, I just received a new replacement HN7000s from Hughes.Net. Technician Mario Alonso of Ejido San Lucas (between Sta. Rosalia and Mulege) confirms

That is great news! Where did you get this info - I was checking myhughesnet and didn't find any mention of it. Any idea when they will roll it out to
existing customers? Will there be a cap on the roll over amount? I never use all my allowance and can foresee my account rolling over a couple hundred

Oh, read your post again - up to 2x your current daily allowance. Mine is 425 so I can get up to 850. Still not enough to download a movie but I bet I
can keep my allowance way higher and avoid getting FAPed when I download large files.
