I'm considering towing my m.h. tow car behind my pickup to Loreto to have a new paint job & some body work done. Anyone done this before, and besides
having a Mexican insurance policy on the tow car also, any suggestions regarding getting across Mexicali and returning at t.j. I've crossed t.j.
Tecate & mexicali probably 35 times now past 11 years. But never with a tow bar pulling another car. (Geo Metro convert) Any suggestions would be

Phil S. , Its no biggie, I do it all the time. However I have been stopped by both the California HP and the US customs before crossing the border for
ownership check. I have heard you have to have a driver for every car but I have never been asked by the Mexican customs. As far as insurance ,I carry
liaibility only on my Geo.
Technicaly as the Mexican Law reads you are only allowed one car but we all know if they inforced that, 50,000 motors homes would not make the trip.

Is body and paint work that much better or cheaper to go the distance?
Is the quality of paint products comparable?

why Loreto? There are caravans of motorhomes with tow cars all over the place down there. Can't be that big a deal.

I and some of my friends have been required on several occasions to start the motor on the towed vehicle to make sure it runs. A friend who's engine
wouldn't start was sent back to the US and had to have it running before they would allow him in Mexico with it. Of course this is in addition to
registration papers (origionals - no photocopies) of the vehicle being registred in you name (or the name of someone with you).
These all occured at the crossings in Mexicali within the past 2-3 years.

No problema. Just have your current registrations with you (I took the pink slip too--just in case.) The work in Loreto is excellant As for the
paint---remember that Mexico does not have all the EPA restrictions we have. Their paint is stronger and better than ours. Need a recommendation on a
good shop that won't gouge you, e-mail me at capn.sharky@verizon.net.

When you get down to Loreto, checkout Estban's shop on Bento Juarez (across from the glass shop). He does great work and a good price

Thanks Sharky & the others who responded. Been traveling to Loreto for past eleven winters. Heavy Dodge pickup, great for towing a light weight Geo
convert that needs some body work. Just makes sense, if no hassle to do it. Seen their work in Loreto, and I'm impressed. Especially with the
price!!!!
