What are some things to do on a cloudy & windy day in Baja?







Here's 20 examples...add yours!


1.watch a movie @ home...w/ tons of popcorn sprinkled with chocolate-covered raisins.

2.play a board game like Scrabble or Monopoly and maybe do a puzzle

3. search things on your computer..erase cookies...clean disc.

4. make some hot chocolate while reading your favorite book..(try to finish the whole book). ..AND/OR ..have everyone get a book they like. Take turns reading passages out loud to each other. No Playboys..and no Playgirls, either.

5. clean your house....or... go back to sleep.

6. I like this one a lot. Teach the children ..or ?.. how to say hello and goodbye in at least three foreign languages. Then have them draw pictures to send to the grandparents and other relatives.

7. eat bananas while taking a bubble bath

8. make shadow puppets with your hands and a flashlight on the wall.

9. go hunt for your dinner

10. send a pizza to your enemy

11. give yourself a pedicure/manicure...or ask your co-pilot to to treat you..then do hers/his.

12. Make tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches.

13. bake a cake/cookies and give them to your neighbors/friends.

14. Take 2 Viagra, dance with your co-pilot around like a maniac to loud music...then improvise.

15. watch the "Lord of the Rings " trilogy (this will kill about 9 hours)

16. watch the Discovery channel and learn about animals and nature. Have a quiz after about the history or facts of the program.


17. fun things to do with paper: make paper airplanes and fly them across the room. make mandalas and also paper bag puppets with lunch bags.


18. tell family stories and take the time to learn about family history. Then sit in a circle, telling a funny or scary mystery story together.. everyone adding one sentence until you get to "The End". We did this when I was a kid camping with my folks and neighbors...but we called it "And then..?"...great fun.


19. sit down and write actual letters to everyone. No emails.

20. OR....like I'm gonna do... play Texas Hold-Em poker all day at Ana's, drink a few cold ones, and forget all about the damn clouds.

Can't I be just a wee bit outside?

Bright, but low forties all day, and brisk NW wind. So I ......

Blew out 8' of bearing wall and installed a 4 x 10 between the living room and kitchen and relocated the smoke pipe for the wood stove 90 degrees in the old brick chimney.
Now my renewable resource burning heater will be centrally located in the cottage "country kitchen". 400 ft. of "engineered hardwood" will tie the rooms together around a hearth made of "Cultured Concrete" components created for one of my Pottery Barn or Banana Republic jobs.

Much warmer for when the snow finally flies.

We've got a guy living under the highway bridge that shares those values.

No, bigboy, that one is a Gamo Hunter 1650fps with PBA, 1250 with lead and 3-9X50 illuminated reticle air rifle scope.

...well, not really...but it was good shot at a can like Igor's.




Below is a much cheaper, slower at about 800-900 fps, but still effective can-shooting airgun from Crossman. I got a great deal on this from SD Craigslist a couple years back. 50 bucks, I think...


I hunt quail, doves, and cottontails with both. Of course, I only hunt, not kill and cook.

Igor...still got my first trusty Red Ryder.

I just wish I had my Dad's station wagon, too! it was new when this photo was taken.

I like your list...ALL good things to do!!! Makes me want to try them all out!


In Baja...when the days are gray, cold, windy or rainy, I / we usually spend time playing card games...Rummikube, 10,000 Dice game, Phase 10, etc. A good way to keep the old mine sharp!

'10,000 Dice' is a favorite of my entire family, we usually play it every time we are together. Another favorite is a card game called 'Polish Poker' Both are simple to play and allow us to visit while playing without be distracted from the game.

Another REALLY FUN thing to do on rainy, cloudy days is to have your daughter let the pet raccoons inside the cabin to join the puppy....and then open the refridgerator door to expose the left-over pizza!
