Bob and Susan - 12-12-2011 at 06:45 PM

ken the sign says with one dollar you get 13.3 pesos not 13.5

Udo - 12-12-2011 at 06:51 PM

13.5=to $1.00 U.S if you are selling the MN for US$

David K - 12-12-2011 at 07:02 PM

Looks like it says 13.59... maybe Ken was just averaging the two 13.3 and 13.59?

It is still good news for the gringo on a budget!

Yes, you exchange a dollar and receive 13.3 pesos. Actually, the peso has improved. Just a few weeks ago it was One dollar will get you about 14 pesos

Vender means to sell - I cut/pasted the translation directly from the site. Looking at the translation, it does not appear to be in error. I guess you guys need to take a Spanish lesson (or two). :!:

Vender = To Sell Comprar = To Buy

Just trying to help you my friend... we all need help sometimes!

Ken Cooke - 12-12-2011 at 08:16 PM

There honestly isn't much of a difference, but I appreciate the help.

Right. Appreciate the Spanish lesson. You are selling or buying Dollars. So 13.3 to get pesos, 13.59 to get rid of them.

Right Ken?

As far as I'm concerned, I didn't make any mistakes!

I'm with you Ken, dollar is 1330 to buy pesos and 13.59
pesos to buy the dollar, besides is there ANY of us
that doesn't know the lower figure at the Cambios
is to buy pesos? Must be a boring rainy day to debate these
semantics

ATM's don't present these disagreements.

You know D, I assume it is unfounded, but I'm a little
hinky about putting an ATM card in a Mex machine, have read a few stories of no cash, eating the card, etc.,
heck I probably have a couple Travellers Checks sitting around

bajafam - 12-13-2011 at 12:38 PM

good luck using those travelers checks Sancho. They are more trouble than they are worth. We made the mistake on our honeymoon of only having travelers checks and found many obstacles trying to get them cashed. ATM is definitely the way to go.

Stuff does happen and if I were away from home, I'd want more than one ATM card for the same account, just in case the machine decided to keep one.
As far as I know, no one else can use it without a pin number anyway.
I've had three or four occasions here that the machine didn't give up the money, but the solution is only a phone call or email away and I've yet to come out loser.

I have lived in Baja for a while and use A.T.M. almost exclisively When my Daughter Graduted I sent her to Europe with a hefty Deposit in her account. When she ran out of money as I knew she would It was a simple matter to put more money in har account.:lol:

As of 7:30 AM today (12/13) the OFFICAL exchange rate is:
1 USD = 13.7355 MXN
No matter what the sign says when translated it literally means that YOU can sell THEM 13.59 pesos and they will give you $1US (not a bad deal - if you bought at 13.7355 = 1% proifit); or that if YOU give them $1US THEY will give you 13.30 pesos (= 3% loss if you bought at 13.7355).
