Tulelake, The Eagle, and Highway 139

DianaT - 12-14-2011 at 10:11 PM

From San Diego to Grass Valley, well we had to visit Tulelake on the way even though it is WAY north, since we had not been there before.

It is winter, so the waterfowl are gone---they don't like frozen lakes.

It was real cold

And the bull rushes are sending off new shoots

Photo taken through a very dirty windshield and there I am shooting that very cooperative bald eagle ---

And one more picture of that eagle we posted pictures of before

And a beautiful sky on Highway 139 south.

And some great yard - junk art on 139. It was difficult to photograph as there was not a real turn out and we just had to hope the traffic would avoid the gawking tourists.

It was cold, but lots of fun and we hope to return sometime during the spring when all the waterfowl are there.

Thanks for looking

It looks cold! Even the eagle has all but one toe covered:) Nice photos as always. Thank you.

I love the subtle winter shades of your first Tule Lake pix, Diane.
Makes me want to grab my winter jacket and mittens.

And that yard/roadside/pasture art - what fun!

So far I'm enjoying your trip to see John's mother.

Thanks to both of you.

And yes Nina, it was definitely winter jacket and mitten time, except I just can't seem to handle the camera with gloves on!
