Know the history of this cobblestone art?

Ateo - 12-22-2011 at 07:51 PM

Interested in knowing more about who might have made this.

Located south of Santa Rosalillita.

Has always looked impressive.

Heading there for some ola's in 2 weeks.

Just wondering if you have some knowledge Nomads.

And of course the view from on top of the truck is always impeccable.

Ateo - 12-22-2011 at 08:02 PM

And some great tortas in El Rosario if you feel like skipping Mama Espinosa's.

Ateo - 12-22-2011 at 08:06 PM

Of course some Bocce is OK.

Woody, I'll be down in "the area" in January and February. U2U me if things come together waves-wise. If they don't I'll be at the door/floor or the wall.

Ateo - 12-22-2011 at 08:54 PM

And like I said, try out Mi Casita next time down. Make the left turn in El rosario, go 1/2 mile? ....and good food is awaiting. Look for the big pink house on the left and order a carne asada torta. We asked for beer and the daughter went into town to get it. Big tips....

woody with a view - 12-22-2011 at 09:08 PM

pray for surf....

Paulina has some photos of it, there at 'The Wall'...

I won't publish his name because I don't have his permission. If you spend much of the season there, you'll meet him. He camps at the fort just to the south. He has more time collecting rock then building. It truly is art, done for the enrichment of those that visit the place.
Some years he will stack rocks along the low road coming in.
Ateo, the camping is better away from the "Getto" The long timers stay on the hill or around the the other side. Less chance of flooding due to rain or high tides.

Mike, are you talking about GH?

Ateo - 12-23-2011 at 03:28 PM

I was half drunk when I posted this, so forgive me for saying "wanted to know more who made this". I had heard it was some dude who has lived down there forever. I guess I should've said "how the heck can you make something this cool?" Obviously he would've needed to put something in that hole while constructing the top cobblestones, then take it out upon completion? Anyways, thanks all for the input and sorry for just saying "put something in that hole and take it out upon completion". :D

Woody not G H and that's no bull;D;D;D
When I found out who did it. I walked up to him and thanked him for the art. That is art as pure as it gets, not done for gain other than enjoyment and wonder.

10-4 Woody. I was far from the first person to wonder what this rock hole at the wall was all about. I remember seeing some stuff in the Surfers Journal but I was drunk reading that too. Kidding.

Having said that, we are due for a major nw groundswell at 280-295 degrees. Long period. Surfed Oside harbor this morning. Fun, but so damn small.
