Thanks Bernie for bringing up Don Jimmy. classic old Baja he was. Can you imagine only 57 posts, and at the time, he played a very important role on Nomad.

I expect those who knew and loved him will never ever forget him. I know for myself, he travels with me every where I go. He is a hummingbird that I meet here and there and everywhere and as soon as I spot the little warrior, I know the Ol Man's spirit is there. He is my guardian, my advisor, and most of all my conscious. I sure was lucky to get to spend the time with him that I did, I learned a lot.

I too had the immense privilege to have studied under Don Jimmy. I am so lucky.

Once, Jimmy met me and my friends while we overnighted at Rancho Santa Ynez. We were on an off road adventure and he pulled up in his red mini pickup before sundown and we ended up sitting in Oscar and Matilda's dining room.

After dinner and somewhere north of midnight, most of the riders disappeared to bed. Only three of us remained at the table, Jimmy, me and Wild Bill. On the table was a bottle of Tequila.

Jimmy ordered that whoever left before the sun came up was a &@$#^~€£{¥.

We sat and drank tequila until the wee hours...and he shared with me more that night than I'll ever learn in a lifetime.

Man, what a legacy of Baja adventures that Don Jimmy put into history.

Thanks Bernie for the post here...and like you, me and Jimmy go on quite a few adventures regularly.

I have shared a lot of words and stories with and about Don Jimmy...but what you just touched on I have never been able to pui into words...sitting at a kitchen table, with him was truly a learning experience...he and Chuck Potter once stayed at my home in La Salina and that was an intense 48 hours of Baja Learning never to be surpassed.

Thanks for allowing me to tag onto your toughts. That is what Don Jimmy was a master of.

Salud!
