how about we leave the names of the spots out? leave something to the imagination for the new-to-baja crowd?

I surfed La Jolla Cove during a big North swell back in about 1974. The lifeguards and police were trying to keep everyone out of the water, but I got
past them by climbing down east of the caves and jumping off a ledge onto the back of a 12 footer as it hit the rock I was standing on.
I finally got out, and it was just me and Dale Dobson (a REAL big wave surfer, not like me) who was just back from the North Shore. He was riding a
big, pointy, Brewer gun. he lost it on his first wave and it was destroyed against the cliffs.
Then I was out there alone.
The firetrucks on Prospect would hit their sirens when the sets came, because the way the swell was wrapping around the point at Boomers there was no
way to see them coming before it was too late to react.
I "caught" one wave, but it was so big and slow that I couldn't drop in. When I pulled out of it, I was confronted by the set of the day. Easy 20'
faces, and I was WAAAY too close to the cliffs!
I survived, but was very, very over it. The only way to get out of the water was to paddle to the Shores.
These days, anything over 4' makes me uncomfortable.
Anyway, I miss being there when these big swells arrive. The energy in the parking lots is worth the drive.
