Hi all,
Took some pics of the moon with my scope a few nights ago, the seeing was very good. Got one of the images published on the "Lunar pic of the day"
website.
Its run by Charles Wood, hes a selenographer (lunar geologist) who worked for NASA during the Apollo mision program.
Heres the link (sorry Nomads 50k limit is kinda pathetic!)

If the photo is hosted off site (like Photobucket or your web site), there is no 50 kb limit... just a request to not exceed 800 pixels width.

Wow is right! I fixed the link to go straight to it.

cool
what's the diameter of the large, deep crater more or less in the middle of the picture and on the left side of the larger, shallow crater?

David, I know, but the image is 1600X1200 and one meg.
Thanks for fixing the link Goldhuntress!
The main crater Gassendi is 67X67 miles, the smaller one Gassendi A is 20X20 its walls are 11,000 ft. The central peaks of Gassendi are around 4500'.
The smallest resolvable features right around the 300 meter mark.

Glad everyone likes the image! The thing that allows for details like this has to do with lack of turbulent air here in the sierra. Which is why up on
the mountain the conditions are on par with Mauna Kea in hawaii, and places like Cerro Tollolo in S. America.
Heres a site with the rest of the images I took the same night:
