Mexicali East crossing, road to SF well signed?

philodog - 1-12-2012 at 06:08 PM

Is the road south from the east Mexicali crossing south to San Felipe well signed to get out of town like the main Mexicali crossing is?

No

Anybody got good directions? Thanks.

I have been doing practice runs using google street view. I make note or even print out landmarks...

Otherwise signed well from Border. Once you cross turn RIGHT at the very first T intersection (1/8 mile from Border).

Go about two miles WEST (your along the Border fence at this point) and you'll see an overhead sign for SAN FELIPE and turn LEFT.

Continue for maybe 10 miles and yes turn LEFT at the Peterbuilt sign (Peterbuilt Plant, busy intersection). For some reason the sign directing to SAN FELIPE is non-existent.

Straight to San Felipe from there. 120 miles.

Have a good trip.

Heading South

LEFT leaving the Garita. Follow the road (which becomes Calle Novena) to the San Luis-Rio Colorado Highway. Right to Venustiano Carranza OR the signal just West. Turn South. Either one crosses (actually the two merge) Hwy 5.

No Problema.

Other than the last mile or so of Calle Novena is a heavily-congested two-lane with LOTS of darting pedestrians through a "local" neighborhood.

But, I take it every time.

Thanks all. I will try Mr BillM`s way since it involves the least amount of turns and will report back for future Mexicali newbies.

Yah, just head south... bajalou posted a satellite map of the route from Costco Mexicali to the East Border, but it isn't real clear, just a general idea as it is pretty much N-S oriented.

There's some more detailed instructions for the "turning left" route by Vivian Scott at my site San Felipe Life: http://bit.ly/A8XM91

This is the way I go from the east crossing to SF. Lots of Stop Signs, but no Policia with their hands out for mordida.
