Day 1. Crossed into TJ around 5am - a little earlier than usual. Two couples, two trucks.
We had an uneventful ride all the way to El Rosario, where we made our traditional lunch stop at La Pasadita on the east side of town - our official
"we are in baja" stop. We hit the dirt around 1:30 and reached our destination a few hours and a few Tecates later. We were stoked to find surfable
waves and enough time to get wet before dark.
Day 2. Woke up early to the sound of more swell.
I got up and hooked up the Antenna and SSB radio to get the weather report. I bring a 100 foot long wire (16 gauge insulated wire) that I anchor to
the hillside and connect to my grundig radio.

At 730AM the Chubasco net meets and someone delivers the weather report. It's a great thing to have when you're off the grid.
The report was good - solid WNW swell and slack winds all day.
We had to wait until lunch for the tide to drop so after a few cups of joe we went fishing. Fishing has always been a difficult aspect of our baja
trips, mainly because we don't do a lot of catching. 2012 was a turnaround year for us.
After lunch we got wet.

Day 3 we woke up and the surf had fallen off a little. We caught more fish and enjoyed a few fresh fish tacos for lunch
And then surfed all afternoon.
Day 4 was a small day for surf. We took a walk to try another fishing hole and came across this grim dude.

After lunch we paddled out and splashed around in some waist high surf.
Day 5 we rolled out, headed to Don Eddie's for a stopover. We passed 2 local trucks on the way to the 1 and were vibed more than usual by both cars -
one in particular was an all out mean scowl. That was rare for us. Usually the scowls come from the salty gringos who still believe a true Baja
explorer only travels alone and that its unethical to camp closer than 10 miles apart. A local scowl caught us off guard. Nonetheless, the ride out
was uneventful. We stayed over at Don Eddie's next to a couple who had an awesome turquoise f-series 4 door, late 80's or early 90's - my dream
ride. Never got to talk to them but the truck looked epic. Woke up with the sun and got on the road home.
We had breakfast at the Restaurant Viejo San Quintin (an absolute SCORE, and new mandatory stop on our baja missions), and made it home in time for
dinner.
All in all, a fantastic trip. Can't wait to get back

One guy could have been just looking angry, but really just focused on driving. He was about 50, thin guy. Driving a couple of blue plastic barrels.
The really measy looking guy was in his 30's, heavy set, driving what was probably his mom at shotgun and an old guy in the truck bed. The old guy
yelled "hello!" but the kid - man, he looked TICKED off. Not sure if its because we were trying to pass each other on a fairly narrow road, or
because he was just peeed. But from 3 feet away, he had a cold, mean stare.David K - 1-16-2012 at 06:35 PM

Whoa. It looks like that one regular foot was really ripping those righthanders. Were you travelling with a professional surfer?

I'm pretty sure those pics are of Punta Peligrosa, which is 20 miles down a goat track from Punta Muy Escondida. Just hop the fence at the military
base and hike to Punta Matagringa, then make a left.
