Nomads , this post is directed at those that make BCS their home at least half of the year . we want to hear it from you nomads that arel"living it"
Please expound on why either La Paz Or Loreto is your favorite city . Be it health care -facilities and professionals, cost of living , cultural
diversity , entertainment (museum ,theatres) shopping ( sams club and others) etc..... If in your opinion the cost of living is less , is it worth it
considering La Paz is so much bigger .
Your opinion and thoghts are appreciated.

I remember a thread on this not too very long ago...a year or two...have no idea what the subject was but a search could turn up the data you want
quickly.bajabass - 1-17-2012 at 09:44 AM
If you want or need the amenities of a larger city like La Paz, check the surrounding areas of El Centenario, La Ventana, inland to San Pedro, even
north of Todos Santos. More peaceful that living in town, but everything would be 20 minute to an hour away. If smaller and remote is what you want,
Loreto is the obvious choice.
Will you be buying or renting?? There are great deals for both now, in and around La Paz. I am sure it is similar in Loreto, though I've done no
research. As many have said in earlier threads, unless you are absolutley sure of where you want to live, rent first. If you change your mind, selling
would be a tough deal at best right now.Cielomar - 1-17-2012 at 10:09 AM
Both are too hot in the summer. Better on the Pacific side...BajaBlanca - 1-17-2012 at 10:38 AM
I also remember the thread on tis a while back ...it got lots of responses .... and both are wonderful towns and but cielomar is right - if you can
escape during the hot and muggy summer you have the best situation of all!Lengua - 1-17-2012 at 03:40 PM
Nomads , Thanks for the responses to date . Yes , I beleive and agree that it is prudent to rent first then buy if you like it . We would be fortunate
enough to be able to escape the hot summers for the three to four months when it really gets hot.
Please keep the comments coming. I know there are more Nomads that have been faced with this comparisons and the nuances of both cities .David K - 1-17-2012 at 03:57 PM
I know people who live or have homes in both places... Just spend some time in both and see what services you will need. La Paz is a city, Loreto is a
big town... both will appeal differently to different folks.bajabass - 1-17-2012 at 04:04 PM
Have you spent time in both yet? How long? What was your initial "gut" feeling about both? How do you spend your time in Mexico now? How well do you
blend with the locals? Do you need regular flights to various U.S. cities?Lengua - 1-17-2012 at 07:10 PM
Baja Bass , I have spent significant time in Loreto getting to know some of the locals . We 've gotten to know the folks at Pescador , mFerre Mar
tackleshop ,Ette pie shop etc....
We keep our boat and truck there at Loreto Shores and it has been good .
However , I beleive (correct me if I'm wrong ) that your money will go further in Lapaz .In addition , most nomads say medical care is better and
shopping choices from groceries to tires are far more affordable in LaPaz than Loreto which when I look at the map appears to be right in the middle
of nowhere. And yes flight availability is important . I like Davids idea , time to go figure out La Paz then weigh the comparisons.

OK. That would be " 'i' before 'e,' except after 'c,' " as in "believe."Lengua - 1-17-2012 at 08:33 PM

Having only spent a few hours in Loreto several times, I can tell you La Paz is much busier, hectic on a day to day basis. Obviously with more
selection/competition, prices for goods may be better, IF you shop around. Flights and medical services are exponentially more available. I don't even
want to get started on the outlandish prices for fishing tackle!! Buy it all in the states!!! By all means, spend as much time in La Paz as you can
before committing. Is my spelling OK Mr. Tripper???Norm - 1-18-2012 at 08:39 AM
