That's beautiful!! I've never been out to your area but I need to go check it out for sure. So much Baja, so little time. Thanks for sharing.woody with a view - 1-17-2012 at 06:23 AM

Beautiful. Aquatic to arid desert. Any idea how many millions of years ago?? Any shells or sea life remains? There are many coastal areas that one
can search for Shark's teeth, etc. Thanks. TioBajaBlanca - 1-17-2012 at 10:41 AM
nice photos ... must still be so salty to have so little plant life.

Interesting landscape. Where is it, Diane, in relation to where you live or to the town?
I'd like to see the larger area on Google Earth.

Thanks---I like the second best also. It is difficult to capture the vastness of this area
goldhuntress, there is so much diversity around here---lots to enjoy
Woody and tiotomas, ah yes, there were megaladons. I don't know old old, but hope to learn more about it. The young biology grad student from UC
Berkely who stays at our place when he is here researching brought another grad student with him this time, a geologist/ paleontologist and she wants
to return. We just missed them this time, but can't wait to explore the area with her when she returns! There are lots and lots of fossils and as a
part of the Biosphere, it is a protected area.
bacquito and McFez----THANKS---and Blanca, there is more plant life than one can see easily. Walking around this place with plant biologists opened
my eyes to all the plant life---some very, very tiny.
Nena, directions around here confuse me greatly. When I think we are headed west, the compass in the car is apt to say north. But this particular
area is between the roads from Bahia Asuncion to San Roque and San Jose del Castro.ecomujeres - 1-18-2012 at 12:46 AM
Diana:
Love the photos both on the macro level as well as at the closeup level, as with the prostrated, wind-pruned Pachycormus discolor trees (Elephant
trees) in the foreground and distance of the first photo.
Miss you guys. Hope that this may be the year to catch up. We're headed back to Baja this weekend. I'm feeling great and ready to get back to "my"
plants. Saludos!
