Searching for Gold

DianaT - 1-17-2012 at 03:32 PM

As the sun was beginning to fall toward the ocean yesterday, we decided to drive out to a road off of the San Roque Road to search for gold.

Sitting next to the San Roque road was the last person who was exploring this area.

We had a great drive through part of the Ancient Sea Beds, but it looked like we were going to be leaving with no gold.

But suddenly it appeared near the San Roque road----that amazing Golden Light --- and yes, it was this Gold!

Always a beautiful time of the day that lasts such a short time.

That's why God gave us cameras.
Nice shots, Diane.

Thanks Dennis for the really nice comment! And this time I told the dogs I did not care what their perspective was, I was keeping the color.

Wow, you really captured the gold, Diane! Musta been a great sunset to produce that shade.

Also I'm kinda fond of the San Roque greeter.;)

Thanks. I really couldn't believe how gold it was---maybe because it is basically quite yellow dirt and the sun was blasting straight though the canyon. I was looking for some elephant trees with some good light, but they were just in the shade----and this was one of those times one yells STOP, STOP, look at that!

And yea, the greeter is cool.

If I close my eyes I feel warm.
Thanks !

Very beautiful, those ancient mud hills of the desert... and so often they are treasure chests of fossil shells and more. Thanks for posting them Diana.

Zabriskie point is like that also. It's yellow in daylight and becomes gold at the end of the day. I believe the uphill climb to Zabrieskie goes through 'Gold Canyon' (near Furnace Creek).

Selective reading Ralph? I said nice things... then Ms. Trotter came over to my Canyon thread and interjected her opinion (which Barry proved false)... before I made a joke here, based on her desert 'expertise'/...

No. You posted more nonsense on that thread that she was responding to. You had to spread your nonsense to this one. Why not leave the crap in your own threads and we will be happy.

Thanks Ken! And yes, it would be really nice if that light would last longer---it is a real grab it quick while it lasts.
