How much snow is too much ? That is the question.

For you NW'erners who are really missing your winters up north ......
18 inches and still falling at over 1 inch per hour !
I had to let the dog break trail out to the barn to feed horses.
Cat won't go out; the snow is way over her head !
Can't even find the hot tub ......
Time to go shovel the decks again .... maybe part of the roof later.

Bet you wish you were here ! :biggrin:

Funny that this morning when I lit the burner to heat water for tea, I got a whiff of propane and for a few seconds I was in our camper at our place in Asuncion ...... it would have been around 70 with the sun rising to another beautiful day.

Have you ever been in hilly Seattle during or right after a snowfall? Sheer chaos!!

Just got back to north ID from my annual visit down in MS. It's a 13 frosty degrees right now with more snow on the way. Was wearing a T-shirt when boarding the plane in Gulfport, MS. Had a great visit. Bought a boat, caught some fish, did some hunting, ate a whole lot of southern-style food, drank way too much beer, and had a good time with family and friends. Already looking forward to next year.

We must be northwest of you. Here on San Juan Island the snow started three hours ago, and is coming down about 1/2"/hour. Not much, but enough to close the schools and create trasportation chaos for the rest of us.

We hope to be in BA by mid-February, really, REALLY looking forward to it!

Seattle looks more like Alaska right now...worst snowstorm in decades.

Alaska Airlines announced late Tuesday that it canceled 38 flights into and out of Seattle and Portland, Ore. The airline was waiving rebooking fees for passengers traveling Tuesday through Thursday in those cities.

Just checked the weather station closest to my Way Far North fishhut..minus 34 F ..blizzard whiteout with zero visibilty...a typical January day for that area...almost balmy.

Anybody up for an ice-fishing adventure?? Warning: you will have to ID your fish by touch.

Well, it is not 70 when the sun is rising around here, but a very light jacket will do. To meet my walking buddies I check out your land everyday---yup, it is still there. Wish all of you were here!

diver....where in washington are you?....i'm presently in sequim and scheduled to fly to mulege tomorrow.....hmmmmmm....so far, they say it's still a go...we'll see...we have about a foot of the white stuff on the ground and it's still coming at us sideways.

Mike; we're at 1,800' about 6 miles northeast of Lyle, WA.
Yep, sideways and always; about 1" per hour since 5AM but it started Sunday night.

Amazing weather here in Oregon, no snow (except in the foothills) at my house, raining pretty steady. We did have snow on the coast at Brookings, Newport, Seaside and Astoria, Brookings is a little unsusal. Portland area had been receiving snow and as of yesterday the Ski mountains have been closed, hasn't happened like this since about 1994.

I just came in from clearing my 600 ft driveway with the Kubota. We are getting pounded here in Moscow ID. I have about 14" on the ground, very fine and dry stuff that is blowing around like crazy. Gave me the excuse of not going into the office today though, I'm "working from home" in front of the woodstove with a beer. I don't leave for Baja for another month and weather like this makes it tough. One can only go through their tacklebox so many times.

I'm wishing I had a Kubota.
We have 1/4 mile of heavy mashed potato snow, 2 feet deep for a driveway.

Power was out for 3 hours but all is well now.

2 ft of mashed potato snow a 1/4 mile long...you don't need a Kubota you need a D4 Cat.

They're calling for another 6-12" here tomorrow which if it happens will basically shut down North Idaho, Eastern WA and Montana all the way to Billings. The jet stream finally dropped down from pounding Alaska and we are the beneficiaries. We do need the water or next year will be very dry in the Columbia Basin. I used to not mind winter until I realized I could drive south and it would go away.
