that was a really good idea to put this list up ... hopefully someone will see something. wishing you the best of luck.

3 tortoise shells?

mcfez - 1-21-2012 at 07:40 AM

You had 3 tortoise shells? Not a good item to have possession of...

I agree...great idea to post your lost belongings.

Every Sunday there is a large swap meet on the north side of Rosarito just to the east of the toll road. Maybe nomad Rosarito residents will visit and spot something.

micah, get a grip (again!). i don't mean to be a dickk, but are you really asking for someone to corner a tweaker at some yard sale and call the cops? maybe run to the nearest internet cafe and post a crumb on BN so you can fly down and kick some nalgas?

i hate to seem like "that" guy you think i am but just cross the border and have a good life, bro! it can only get worse if you continue on the path you are on. let the little stuff go. you have your health and the rest of your life ahead.

that's the best advice you're going to get

tiotomasbcs - 1-21-2012 at 10:43 AM

By the way, where did this theft occur?? You are hopefully scouring the area this weekend. We've had a "painful" thread about the stolen van before and it wasn't pretty!:O Time to move on, verdad?! Tio

Not many Mexicans would own or want to keep the kayak. I'm thinking that will be up for sale real quick. We'll watch for it here.

If you want your stuff back it makes more sense to me to ask people (the Nomads that you are putting this out to)to buy it and then you repay them for it. You have more of a chance in recovering it that way. You're not going to get any legal justice if that is what you are after.

The stuff is gone. There is nothing you can do about it other than buy it back if and when it turns up and move on.

Maybe you could ask the board to start donations.

paranewbi - 1-21-2012 at 05:01 PM

Paulina knows the system. Go at it with that angle.
Had a friend who got note from the TJ police that his truck stolen in the US had been found on the streets down there (20 days before the note arrived)...interesting story on what we did to work through the police system on both sides to get to his truck but let's move on.
When we got to the storage lot (dirt-middle of no where) my friend was flabbergasted! No battery, One wheel missing...
But no problem, I asked the guy there if he had a battery for sale and lo and behold it was the exact same type my friend had bought new the day before his truck was stolen, imagine that!
How about a tire? I inquired. Wow a perfect match to the original custom rims and exact same tire! We had hit the jackpot! My friend wanted to punch the guy out, but I reassured him that this is perfectly fine for business in Mexico and that we should be grateful we weren't trailering his truck back to San Diego.
Go buy your stuff back and have a taco while doing it.

That is truly how the petty-crime business works in Mexico. ..buy back your own stuff and be thankful it was at a good price.
