Kind of tiny langostas......but still satisfied my appetite.

That was my initial thought too (too small) but wasn't sure of the size restriction in Baja. These were eaten at Chela's in Puerto Nuevo.

Chela's used to be bumpin' but it's now a ghost town.

Who is serving such young and small lobster

on edit. Never mind. But don't think I will support the establishment

Chela's in Puerto Nuevo. It's off the main drag.

That photo says volumes about Mexico's lack of management of its resources.

last time i was in Pnuevo they brought 3 sizes to the table and asked me to pick which one i wanted.

nothing was that small.

sad story, i know quite a few guys who are taking everything they can scratch out. they say that if they throw them back a guy from the same campo will just take it tomorrow. this is in an ejido, with limits and sizes..... money is the driving factor, just like everywhere else.

hell, these same guys are boating over 10 miles one way to hooka dive for the gooeyducs that are being sent to china. they don't get more than $3/kilo.....

They get the illegal ones only because there is someone buying them. Duh. Fortunately in our community the coop sells legal size lobsters to the public.

Ateo - 1-22-2012 at 06:27 PM

Nobody showed us what size they were till they gave us the plates.

woody with a view - 1-22-2012 at 06:31 PM

well. i guess if you didn't add a half from mama's plate (for the foto) the amount of edible meat would still equal out.

those are pretty small......

edit: (for the foto)

I can't say that I would even think to ask about the size before I ate either ....

Ateo - 1-22-2012 at 07:27 PM

I've seen restaurants bring a tray out showing sizes once or twice. Not this time.

Well chit I feel bad for eating these babies. I figured with their heads still on maybe they'd be legal size. Having said that I knew they were small but they were just served and I wasn't gonna toss them.

I promise not to post that picture of me eating endangered sea turtles. Joke.
