Bravo, Vince! Great action shot of the young Manuel Diaz. As you and I know, he was a renowned diver and spear-gunner.
Down deep in my photo morgue, I have a bunch of old Manuel pics from back in the day..and will post them manana. (Plus one or two from last week.)

Vince, I have well over a hundred photos of Manuel from 1970 Coyote Bay to a week ago at Ana's. Plus some from Blackjack & 'Uncle Earl's' books
on Baja.

From Gardner and Blackjack's 1950's expeditions around Baja Sur:
1959 - Manuel as a champion diver and spearfisherman.
Manuel's father, Bonifacio...a truly legendary Baja figure himself. I would mention his name at the customs in TJ to get quick clearance.
Early 1970's
Vince, you may recognize this barbeque location?
1974
Manuel teaches us how to fillet and prepare ray (mantaraya) for dinner. Lobster could not have better!
1975. Coyote Casa. Everyone loves Manuel. Here Magee Weyerhauser gives him a hug at her birthday party.
2010. A few generations of the Diaz Family. Patriarch Manuel is seated.
2004. Manuel at Boney's Cafe, (a son)...with radio weather 'Club Burro' Geary.

Good photo of Bonifacio! There aren't too many of those. He and I built my house together in 1970-72. It took two years because the road was not
built yet and it took a long time to get supplies there. I was there when he died. That was quite a funeral, with his coffin in the back of the pickup
and a huge procession to the cemetery. After all, he was the former mayor of Mulege. And yes, I recognize the location of the barbecue, our front
yard!

Great additions Roger... I recognize the photo from Erle Stanley Gardner's 1967 'Off The Beaten Track in Baja'... most photos in that book were taken
during their big Feb. 1966 expedition... which included exploring the 'other side' of Concepcion Bay.
