Fishing Lic Ripoff

roundtuit - 1-23-2012 at 01:53 PM

Friend of mine bought a fishing lic online from Pesca Deportiva, got charged for it and never received it. So he tried again and got the same results. Bank shows charges , but he received no paper lic. Guess I was lucky earlier as it took all my info, than wouldn't go yo the next step.

Your going to get a lot of replies where nobody has had any problems.

I assume he did not print it?

That appears to be one of the real advantages of buying online. You can print it right away and if you lose it, I have been told, you can print another one.

We always print ours out...But some folks may not have a printer

BajaBlanca - 1-23-2012 at 04:07 PM

interesting because when it has been charged once, my experience is that it will NOT let you renew again ..... til the time is up.

There is a malfunction

akmaxx - 1-23-2012 at 05:19 PM

My neighbors hit the button five times and were charged $250 but couldn't print the thing. Their helper tried twice and was charged $100 but couldn't print it. This was last week.

I am waiting for confirmation that they have fixed this problem before I buy mine online.

Good thread.

I wanted to buy 4 lic for the family the site would only allow 1 per email address . I had to put in 4 email addresses to buy 4 lics . when I print the lic I print 3 copies ,1 for the boat, one for the truck , one just in case.

i was able to pay for one in my name then go back and CHANGE THE NAME and pay for the second one with the same email. they both show online.

Talking about having the possession of your fishing license....

I copy important documents such as...fishing license(s) , CaDL, car registration/ins...more....to a folder in my PC mailbox. Should you loose your wallet/purse.....far away from home...just find a PC.

Yep, that's the way to do it...

I have had problems on occasion with the site but when I couldnt get it to print, I called the fisheries office and they helped out and got me through the glitch that was in the system and I finally got the file to print.

the reason I solicited permission to sell licenses locally was because several fishers couldnt get their permits online for a variety of reasons like internet down, thier site not functioning etc. More and more places are being granted permission to sell licenses...the La Bocana & Abreojos fishing coops for example.

Anybody know if local Mexicans are required to have a license, and how much it is? How about naturalized citizens?

I BELIEVE everyone needs a license, in San Felipe I
remember seeing a sign saying in both Spanish/English
that licenses were sold. How many Mex Nationals bother
with a license? and I'm sure not all Gringos comply.
Wonder how many Gringos know or have read Mex
Fishing Regs? some of the items may be of a surprise

I just got my license. This is the third year online. I had lots of problems, I was getting halfway and the site would shut me down. Finally remembered the site doesn't like Firefox. First time I've used Internet Exploder in a year.

anyone aboard a boat with sport fishing gear on it needs a license no matter what nationality...the prices are exactly the same for everyone and the fisheries officers are checking up now. If you have your own boat and someone on it doesnt have a license it is a 20-30,000 peso fine for the boat OWNER...just so you know. they also have the authority to confiscate gear and even detain the vessel.

Pescador - 1-28-2012 at 08:03 AM

One more time. If you are in Baja California Sur and buy your license online, the monies go to Ensenada instead of your local area. I have heard all the stuff about convenience etc., but the fact remains that you are sending much needed money out of area and then complain about lack of enforcement and other issues which could be better addressed at the local level.

Where do you get this information? Are there any provisions for elderly, Handicapped, Military, like there are in many State fish and game regs? Do the same rules apply to sanctuary areas? What agency does the enforcement?

maspacifico - 1-28-2012 at 10:48 AM

Pescador.... I would love to just buy it down here but I was making more trips to get my license than I was to get my FM2 renewed. If I lived a couple miles away I'd keep trying....but I don't.

shari - 1-28-2012 at 10:57 AM

i get this information straight from the FONMAR Secretaria de Pesca fisheries officers who come here to drop off my licenses. As far as I know it is the same for everyone. If you fish in a biosphere reserve, you also need a daily reserve permit which are 50 pesos or a yearly pass for 240 pesos I think.
